XRP vs Bitcoin, Gold and Stocks: What $10,000 Did by Entry Date
How $10,000 in XRP compared with Bitcoin, gold and the S&P 500 from six starting dates, why entry point mattered most, and the XRP-in-sats check.

Key takeaways
- According to the video, $10,000 in XRP from a year ago is worth about $5,000, against about $7,200 in Bitcoin and about $11,200 in the S&P 500.
- The same coin produced opposite results depending on the purchase date: about $25,600 from US election day 2024 versus about $3,700 from near the July 2025 record.
- Opportunity cost is the gap between what your money did and what it could have done elsewhere, and comparing XRP with Bitcoin is the simplest way to measure it.
- In the host's example split, XRP got only $3,000 of $10,000, a reminder that how much rides on one coin matters alongside when you buy.
- Checking XRP's price in sats every few months shows whether holding XRP is keeping up with Bitcoin.
XRP has had the worst year of the major assets Bullrunners compared. According to the video, $10,000 put into XRP a year ago is worth about $5,000 today, against about $7,200 in Bitcoin and about $11,200 in the S&P 500. But over other starting dates, XRP tied Bitcoin or beat every asset on the list.
That gap matters for anyone holding XRP while, as the video puts it, the coin sits about 65% below its record. The video’s main finding is that the day you bought mattered more than which coin you picked. Holders who understand that can judge their own position more calmly and plan ahead for the next time prices rise sharply.
How did XRP perform over the last 12 months?
The video says XRP fell further than any of the six assets it checked over the past year. It hit a record of about $3.65 in July 2025 and was about $1.29 at recording. That is almost two-thirds of the price gone in about 15 months.
Someone who bought $10,000 of XRP near that top would have about $3,700 left. The same $10,000 in Bitcoin bought that day would be worth about $6,700. Bitcoin fell too, but a Bitcoin buyer kept almost twice as much.
Solana and Ethereum also fell hard over the year. Gold barely moved, and stocks went up. The video says XRP is down about 30% since January 1, 2026, the worst of the six, while the stock market is up. The host said the stock market is being propped up by AI, and that people are wondering how long that will last.
Even the US XRP ETFs, the funds you can buy through a normal brokerage account, are under water. According to the video, they have taken in about $1.8 billion since launch, and that money is now worth about $1.5 billion. For anyone working out what a drop like this takes to recover, our explainer on XRP break-even math after a 50% fall walks through it.
What is opportunity cost for an XRP holder?
Opportunity cost is the gap between what your money did and what it could have done somewhere else. The video uses Bitcoin as the natural comparison, because a crypto investor who wasn’t holding XRP would likely be holding Bitcoin.
On the video’s numbers, choosing XRP over Bitcoin in the last year cost about $2,200 on every $10,000, or about 22%. Gold and the S&P 500 are on the list for a different reason. For many viewers, that is where the rest of their money already sits, in a retirement account or a bank fund. So it is fair to ask whether the XRP part of a portfolio has kept pace with everything else.
The host acknowledged the frustration and said holders did nothing wrong. The SEC lawsuit ended and the ETFs launched, yet XRP still had the hardest year of the big coins.
How did $10,000 in XRP do from different starting dates?
The result swings widely depending on the entry date. The table below summarizes the video’s figures for $10,000 invested on each date.
| Start date | XRP then | $10,000 in XRP now | $10,000 in Bitcoin now | Notes from the video |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January 2018 (2017 top) | about $3.40 | about $3,800 | about $47,000 | More than 8 years of holding |
| December 22, 2020 (SEC sues Ripple) | not stated | up about 150% | up about 250% | $10,000 in Solana became about $650,000 |
| October 2021 (2021 top) | not stated | about $11,800 | about $12,600 | Stocks up about two-thirds, gold more than doubled |
| October 2023 | about $0.55 | about $23,200 | about $23,200 | Both up about 130% |
| November 5, 2024 (US election day) | about $0.50 | about $25,600 | less than half that | XRP best of all six |
| Near July 2025 record | about $3.65 | about $3,700 | about $6,700 | Bought near the top |
A few patterns stand out. Over five years from the 2021 top, neither XRP nor Bitcoin gained 30%, while gold and stocks did better. XRP did hold up better than Ethereum and Solana from that date. Buyers of either of those near the top are down about half.
The three-year window shows how uneven the ride was. In the first of those years, XRP fell about 10% while Bitcoin almost doubled and Solana ended about five times higher. XRP then caught up in one run and finished level with Bitcoin.
The video points to the period after the SEC sued Ripple as the stretch that hurt most. For most of those years, XRP was stuck under the lawsuit while the rest of the market moved without it.
Why did entry point matter more than the coin?
The video’s starkest comparison is two holders of the same coin. One bought on US election day 2024 at about 50 cents and turned $10,000 into about $25,600. The other bought near the July 2025 top, roughly eight months later, and is down to about $3,700. They held the same coin with the same conviction. Only the purchase date and price differed.
The video also cites Evernorth, a company set up to hold XRP, which listed on Nasdaq in October 2026. According to the video, Evernorth’s merger deal valued XRP at about $2.37 a coin, XRP’s price when the deal was signed. With XRP around $1.29 at recording, each coin in that deal is worth roughly half that price. Our article on how Evernorth’s XRP treasury company works covers the structure in more detail.
The host was careful about the limits of this data. The worst results came from buying after a big run, near the top, with no plan. But none of it says what XRP does next. A coin that lagged for a year can lead the next one, or the reverse. The figures also assume a single purchase held untouched. Most people buy in pieces at different prices, known as dollar cost averaging, so their real result sits somewhere in between.
What does the XRP-to-Bitcoin chart in sats show?
The XRP/BTC chart shows how much one XRP is worth in Bitcoin, counted in sats. Sats are small units of Bitcoin, like cents in a dollar. A higher number means XRP is doing better against Bitcoin.
According to the video, one XRP was worth about 1,610 sats three years ago. At the July 2025 top it reached almost 2,940 sats, nearly double. It is now back to about 1,600. In other words, the lead XRP built over Bitcoin is gone, and against Bitcoin it is where it stood three years ago.
How did the host split an example $10,000?
The host shared an example split and said clearly that it is not financial advice. The host added that crypto is very risky, that you can lose all your money, and that the right split depends on what a person already holds. Bullrunners reports the split here to illustrate the video’s reasoning, not as a recommendation.
The host’s starting rule was “don’t buy right after a big run,” so the host first checked how far each asset sat below its record. These are the video’s figures:
- The S&P 500 was less than 3% below a record set in October 2026.
- Gold hit a record of about $5,590 in January 2026 and has come down about 28% since then.
- Bitcoin was about 36% below its record.
- XRP was about 65% below its record.
The host’s example split was:
- $4,000 in Bitcoin. It fell the least of the coins over the last year, and the host noted that US Bitcoin ETFs alone hold more than $100 billion.
- $3,000 in XRP. The host called this the riskiest part. In the host’s view, XRP is far below its record and back to its level in sats from three years ago. The host also said nobody knows whether it rises again.
- $2,000 in gold. Already off its record, and it barely moved in XRP’s worst year.
- $1,000 in the S&P 500. It rose in every window checked, but was kept small because it sits near its record.
The host left out Ethereum and Solana because both are down about half over five years and swing harder than the rest. The host also stressed that a larger sum would get a completely different allocation. The host’s broader point was that XRP received only $3,000 of the $10,000. The day you buy matters, and so does how much rides on one coin. Our guide to whether holding many altcoins actually diversifies you looks at the same question from another angle.
What to check next
The video’s closing suggestion is simple: check XRP’s price in sats every few months. It shows whether holding XRP is keeping up with Bitcoin, which is the clearest measure of opportunity cost for most crypto holders.
The other lesson is to decide in advance what you would do if prices rise sharply. The biggest losses in the video came from buying or holding at the top with no plan, then riding the drop back down. Writing a plan ahead of time, as covered in our five-step XRP exit strategy, is one way to avoid making decisions at a peak under pressure.
Frequently asked questions
How far is XRP below its all-time high?
According to the video, XRP hit a record of about $3.65 in July 2025 and was about $1.29 at recording, roughly 65% below that high. That is almost two-thirds of the price gone in about 15 months.
Has XRP beaten Bitcoin over the long run?
The video says it depends on the start date. Over three years, both turned $10,000 into about $23,200. From January 2018, XRP turned $10,000 into about $3,800, against about $47,000 for Bitcoin.
What is XRP worth in sats right now?
The video puts one XRP at about 1,600 sats, close to the roughly 1,610 sats of three years ago. It peaked near 2,940 sats in July 2025, so the lead XRP built over Bitcoin has been lost.
Are the US XRP ETFs in profit?
Not on the video's numbers. The US XRP ETFs took in about $1.8 billion since launch, and that money is now worth about $1.5 billion.
What does opportunity cost mean for an XRP holder?
Opportunity cost is the gap between what your money did and what it could have done somewhere else. The video says choosing XRP over Bitcoin in the last year cost about $2,200 on every $10,000, or about 22%.

From the video's captions, lightly formatted. Captions can mishear names and numbers, so check figures against the article above.
If you hold XRP, right now it's a rough. It's sitting about 65% below its record and a lot of holders are saying it out loud. Look at this one. How did we go from $3.66 to $1.33 [music] XRP? And when your coins drop like that, you start asking where your money should really be.
So, if you have let's say an extra $10,000 today, where would you put it? XRP, Bitcoin, gold, the stock market, or just leave it in cash? Well, I'm going to show you exactly how I'd split up $10,000. But first, we checked [music] what 10K would have done in XRP, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, gold, and the S&P 500. We started from different dates going back more than 8 years because that tells you a lot about where to put it now. [music] Over the last year, the answer hurts. $10,000 put into XRP a year ago is worth about $5,000 right now.
The same $10,000 in Bitcoin is worth about $7,200. And in the S&P 500, about 500 of the biggest companies in America, it's worth about $11,200. But the answer changes a lot depending on the day that you bought. From one starting date, XRP beats all five of the others, even gold and the stock market. But if you bought on another date, you would be down right now.
So, your entry point matters. And how much of my $10,000 actually goes into XRP right now? Well, first you need to see what happened to that money from every starting investing date. So, let's run it. All right, bull runners, welcome back to the channel.
Now, let's start with the worst of it. Over the last 12 months, XRP fell further than anything else on the list that we're talking about today. Last July, XRP hit a record of about $3.65. And at the time I'm recording this video, it's about $1.29. That's almost 2/3 of the price gone in about 15 months.
So, picture buying near that top. Maybe you'd watched it run for months and you finally got in because it felt like it was really happening this time. That $10,000 in XRP would be worth about $3,700 now. If you bought Bitcoin that same day instead, you'd have about $6,700. Bitcoin fell as well, but you'd still have almost twice as much left.
Now, look at the whole list for the last 12 months. XRP fell the most, and Solana and Ethereum fell hard, too, but gold barely moved, and stocks actually went up. And those two are in here for a reason. For a lot of people watching, that's where the rest of their money already sits in a retirement account or a fund at their bank. So, it's fair to ask whether the XRP part has been pulling its weight next to it.
And this is what people mean by opportunity cost. It's the gap between what your money did and what it could have done somewhere else. And the easiest one to compare XRP with is Bitcoin because if you weren't holding XRP, there's a good chance you'd be holding Bitcoin. So, for that 1 year, picking XRP over Bitcoin cost you about $2,200 on every $10,000. So, that's about 22%.
In 2026 on its own tells the same story. Since January 1st, XRP is down about 30%. That's the worst of all six things that we checked, while the stock market is up. Now, the stock market is being propped up by AI right now, and people are wondering how long that will last, but right now it's only regular holders feeling it. The US XRP ETFs, which are the funds you can buy through a normal brokerage account, have taken in about $1.8 billion since they launched.
That money is now worth about $1.5 billion. So, even the money that went into the ETFs is down about $300 on paper. And honestly, that's what makes it so frustrating. You didn't do anything wrong by holding. The lawsuit ended, the ETFs showed up, and XRP still had the hardest year of the big coins.
But 1 year is the window that makes XRP look the worst, and if you push the starting point where you invested back 2 more years, and you get a result almost nobody would guess. Now, let's go back 3 years to October of 2023. XRP was about 55 cents. Bitcoin was about $34,500. $10,000 in an back then is worth about $23,200 now. And $10,000 in Bitcoin is worth about $23,200, too.
They're both up about 130%. So, think about that. Even the worst year of the bunch, 3 years of holding XRP left you almost exactly level with Bitcoin. But, the way XRP got there was a wild ride. In the first of those 3 years, XRP actually went down about 10%.
In that same year, Bitcoin almost doubled. And Solana ended up about five times higher. So, XRP holders spent a whole year watching everything else run. And our [clears throat] clients inside of our accelerator program were able to catch Solana at $8 at the bear market low. So, if you want our top altcoin picks early before we talk about them on YouTube, then click the link below, watch that free briefing, and it will explain everything.
And you'll be able to get access to our private intelligence network. In our network, we have coaches researching the markets 24/7 and sharing what they find with all of our clients. And that includes low-cap gems before they get listed on centralized exchanges. Because it's completely fine to keep holding XRP, but how you compound your portfolio is by spotting altcoin picks early. And you need a team for that.
That's what we're here for. Now, after XRP went sideways for years, it finally woke up in one big run. And it caught up with Bitcoin and went way past it. And you can see that on this chart. It shows how much one XRP is worth in Bitcoin.
Traders count it in sats, which are tiny pieces of Bitcoin, like cents in a dollar. The higher the number, the better XRP is doing against Bitcoin. 3 years ago, one XRP was worth about 1,610 sats. At the top last July, it was worth almost 2,940, nearly double. And now it's back to about 1,600.
So, the whole lead that XRP built over Bitcoin is gone. Against Bitcoin, it's right back where it was 3 years ago. Now, go back to the top of one of the last bull runs in 2021, and over 5 years, the winner isn't a coin at all. If you put $10,000 into XRP in October of 2021, it's worth about $11,800 right now. In Bitcoin, it's about $12,600.
That's 5 years for less than 30% in either one. Over the same 5 years, the stock market was up about 2/3 and gold more than doubled. And to be fair to XRP, it held up a lot better than Ethereum and Solana. If you bought either of those near the top, you're down by about half. But the stretch that really hurt XRP holders started a little earlier on December 22nd of 2020.
That's the day the SEC sued Ripple. Since that day, XRP is up about 150% and Bitcoin is up about 250%. Now, look at the last one on that list. $10,000 in Solana on the day of that lawsuit would be worth around $650,000 right now. That's what stings about the past few years. For most of them, XRP was stuck under that lawsuit.
There was nothing you could do but wait while the rest of the market ran without it. And for holders who go back even further, it's harder still. In January of 2018, at the top of the 2017 bull run, XRP was about $3.40. $10,000 in XRP back then is worth about $3,800 right now. The same $10,000 in Bitcoin would be worth about $47,000. That's more than 8 years of holding.
XRP did climb back above that price for a short stretch last summer and then it fell away again. A lot of long-term holders are just fed up with exactly that. Look at this one. Holding a coin for 6 years just to get a 7x while watching every other crypto make massive gains is frustrating. That's what opportunity cost feels like from the inside.
You made money and it still feels like you lost when you compare to other projects. And some holders have had enough. The opportunity cost for continuing to hold XRP is far too high now. Time to let this go. But before I decide how much of my $10,000 goes into XRP, there's one more starting date to check.
It's the one where XRP came out on top of everything. Now, November 5th of 2024, election day in the US, XRP was about 50 cents and it had gone nowhere for over a year. $10,000 in XRP that day is worth about $25,600 now. That's the best of all six and more than twice what the same $10,000 in Bitcoin is worth today. So, the coin that was the worst place for your money over the last year was the best place for it over the last two. Now, put two XRP holders next to each other.
One bought on election day at about 50 cents. The other bought near the top last July close to the $3.65 cent high. Same coin, just eight months apart. The first one turned $10,000 into about 25,600. The second one is down to about $3,700.
They both believed in XRP. They both watched the same videos. They both are subscribed to the channel. The only thing that changed is the day that they bought and what price they purchased. You can see the same thing with a company that went all in on XRP.
It's called Evernorth. It was set up to hold XRP and when it listed on the NASDAQ this month, it held about in its merger deal. It valued XRP at about $2.37 a coin. So, even a company built to hold XRP bought in after most of the run. With XRP around $1.29 right now, each coin in that deal is worth roughly half the price they agreed on.
So, in our numbers, the day you bought mattered more than the coin itself. The worst results all came from buying after a huge run near the top with no plan for what to do when it got there. And none of this tells you what XRP does next. You see, a coin that lagged for a year can lead the next year or the other way around. These numbers also assume you bought once and you never touched it.
Most people bought in pieces. They dollar cost averages a lot at different prices. So, your own number sits somewhere in between. So, what does all that tell me about XRP? Well, it comes down to when you get in.
Over three years, it tied Bitcoin. Since election day, it beat everything that we checked. Over 1 year and over five, it lost to Bitcoin, gold, and the stock market. Now, let's get to the $10,000. Here's exactly how I'd split it today.
Now, this isn't financial advice. I'm not telling you what to buy or sell. This is just an example. Crypto's very risky and you can lose all of your money here. You're a full-grown adult.
Read the disclaimer below. I'm using the same lesson as the rest of this video. Don't buy right after a big run. That's why the first thing I checked is how far each of these coins sits below its record right now. Look at the bottom of that list.
The stock market is less than 3% below the record it set this month. So, if I buy it today, I'm buying right near the top. Gold had a huge run, too. It hit a record about $5,590 in January and it already came back down about 28% since then. And most of crypto is a long way down.
Bitcoin is about 36% below its record. XRP is about 65% below. And in Bitcoin terms, it's back where it was 3 years ago. So, here's my split. $4,000 goes into Bitcoin. Over the last year, it fell the least of the coins we checked and it has the most money behind it.
The US Bitcoin ETFs alone hold more than $100 billion. $3,000 goes into XRP. It's the riskiest part of this and I'm not going to pretend otherwise, but right now, it looks a lot more like the election day setup than the July one. It's far below its record and it's back to the same price in Bitcoin it had 3 years ago. Nobody knows if it runs again. If it does, I'd rather be starting from here than from the top. $2,000 goes into gold.
It's already come down from its record and in the worst year for XRP, it barely moved. That's the part that's there for the bad days. And $1,000 would go into the S&P 500. It went up in every window we checked it in. I just keep it small for now because it's sitting right near its record.
Now, I left out Ethereum and Solana. Over 5 years, both are down about half and they swing harder than everything else on the list. Now, if you want more risk, that's where it is. It's just not where I'd put that money right now. And notice that even though I like XRP from here, it only gets $3,000 of the $10,000.
That's the other half of this lesson. The day you buy matters, and so does how much rides on one coin. Now, $10,000 is a very small example here. If I were to use $100,000 or even a million dollars, it would be a completely different allocation strategy. And that's just an example split for this video.
Yours would start from a different place with what you already hold and what you paid for it. So, that completely depends on what's already in your portfolio. So, a lot of people will disagree with my split because their portfolio looks different, and the answer is, "Good. You should disagree because your situation is different than me. You might not have 10 million, 50 million, or 100 million dollars in the market.
You might only have a million dollars or 5 million dollars in the market. And if that's all you have, that's completely fine. 10K is an example that everyone can relate with, or even $100,000. If you've already held XRP through all of this, you probably already know which of those two holders you're close to. The one who turned $10,000 into over 25 grand, or the one sitting on about $3,700.
The biggest losses in this video all happened the same way. XRP was flying, people bought in or held on with no plan at the top, and then they watched it fall all the way back during a bear market. Now, when XRP runs again, that moment comes back, and while you wait for it, the money sitting in your XRP isn't doing anything for you. And that's really hard to plan on your own. When it's your coin, every dip looks like a chance to buy more, and every pump feels like the start of something bigger to keep you holding.
So, the smartest thing that you can do is get experienced investors on your side who aren't emotionally attached to one coin. So, through the link below, I made a free video for you explaining the top strategy that my research team leverages to earn yield on idle XRP and other altcoins. And if it makes sense for you, you can book a free strategy call with an expert on my team. They'll go through your portfolio with you, look at how big the position really is next to everything else that you have, what holding it has cost you, and whether that XRP is just sitting there while you wait, and how to put it to work for you so you can maximize your upside in the next run and minimize your downside. Then you'll leave with a plan for what to do when the market runs again.
And if our accelerator program isn't the right fit for you, we'll be the first ones to let you know on the call. So, start with the first link in the description. It says, "Put your XRP to work here." On mobile, just tap more. It's right at the top. Watch the short video, and I'll see you on the inside.
Now, whatever you do with your own 10K, 100K, a million dollars, or whatever, check XRP in sats every few months. It'll show you whether holding it is still keeping up with Bitcoin. So, as always, I'll see you on the next video. I'll see you at the top. You know what to do.
Stay bullish.
