Bitcoin vs the AI Trade: Where Dell, Burry and Saylor Stand

Michael Dell chose Nvidia-powered AI servers over Bitcoin while Michael Burry took positions against AI stocks. What each side claims and the signal the video watches.

Video: Bitcoin vs the AI Trade: Where Dell, Burry and Saylor Stand

Key takeaways

  • Michael Dell publicly hinted at Bitcoin in June 2024 but, according to the video, put his company's weight behind Nvidia-powered AI servers instead.
  • Michael Burry's Scion disclosed put options on Nvidia and Palantir with a reported face value of about $1.1 billion, though Burry said he paid far less. The position reflects his view that AI spending has run far ahead of AI revenue.
  • Burry compares Nvidia to Cisco in 1999: a real business whose stock, the video says, still fell 89% when the dot-com bubble burst.
  • The idea that money leaving AI would flow into Bitcoin is the video's speculation, not an established trend.
  • The video suggests watching Strategy's Bitcoin purchase announcements, which usually come on Monday mornings, as one public data point on demand.

Michael Dell, the founder of Dell Technologies, publicly hinted at Bitcoin in June 2024. According to a Bullrunners video, his company’s big bet became Nvidia-powered AI servers instead. Investor Michael Burry has taken the other side, disclosing put options against Nvidia and Palantir. The video argues that if Burry is right, money leaving AI could rotate toward Bitcoin.

That last idea is speculation, and this article treats it that way. Still, the debate is worth following. Hundreds of billions of dollars a year are going into AI. Holders who understand both sides can read the headlines without taking any one forecast on faith.

What did Michael Dell and Michael Saylor say about Bitcoin?

In June 2024, Michael Dell posted three words on X: “Scarcity creates value.” Michael Saylor replied that “Bitcoin is digital scarcity,” and Dell reposted him. Saylor turned his company Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) into the best-known corporate Bitcoin holder. According to the video, Dell also shared a meme of Cookie Monster eating a Bitcoin.

The crypto community read this as Dell being recruited into what the video calls the “Bitcoin treasury club”: companies that hold Bitcoin on their balance sheet instead of cash. The video says Dell was sitting on about $5.8 billion in cash that earned very little while inflation eroded its value. That is the situation Saylor has long pitched Bitcoin as a fix for. For background on why Bitcoin’s fixed supply sits at the center of that pitch, see what happens when all 21 million bitcoin are mined.

The video shows a clip of Saylor making his case. He argues that Bitcoin is more volatile than the S&P 500 but has outperformed it, which he says makes it uniquely suited to a corporate treasury. According to the video, Dell never bought any Bitcoin, never mentioned it again, and the conversation disappeared from his feed.

What did Michael Dell do instead?

According to the video, Michael Dell’s company put its weight behind AI servers built on Nvidia chips. In its fiscal second quarter of 2027, which ended July 31, 2026, Dell Technologies booked a record $60.9 billion in AI server orders and reported a $95 billion backlog.

The video also cites 757% year-over-year growth. That figure was AI server revenue growth in the previous quarter, fiscal Q1 2027, reported in May 2026. In the second quarter, AI server revenue grew about 100%. Because the servers run on Nvidia chips, Dell is one of Nvidia’s most important hardware partners.

The video shows Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on stage at Dell Technologies World. He says demand is going “utterly parabolic” because agentic AI systems have to reason, plan, use tools and repeat until a job is done.

The video says Dell’s stock was up 349% in 2026 at one point and that Michael Dell’s net worth was $141 billion in January. It also calls him the fourth richest person in the world, but that ranking is out of date. In mid-October 2026, after a Barclays downgrade, his net worth fell by about $36 billion over two days and he lost fourth place. As of October 19, 2026, he ranked fifth, at about $241 billion. The video gives two different figures for how much he gained this year, $140 billion and $150 billion, so this article leaves the exact number out.

What is Michael Burry betting on?

Michael Burry expects the AI boom to end badly. He is the investor known for predicting the 2007-2008 housing crash. On October 30-31, 2025, he posted on X for the first time since 2023: “Sometimes, we see bubbles. Sometimes, there is something to do about it. Sometimes, the only winning move is not to play.”

In early November 2025, a filing from his fund, Scion Asset Management, showed put options on Nvidia and Palantir. The filing covered the quarter ending September 30, 2025, and the options had a reported face value of about $1.1 billion: roughly $912 million for Palantir and $187 million for Nvidia. Face value is not the amount spent. Burry said he paid about $9.2 million for the Palantir puts. A put option is a contract that gains value when a stock’s price falls, so the position was a bet against two of the biggest AI winners.

Burry then deregistered Scion from the SEC and returned investors’ money. The video says this means he no longer has to disclose positions. He now publishes his research under the name “Cassandra Unchained.” In Greek mythology, Cassandra sees the future but is never believed.

The bearish case, as presented in the video:

  • Big tech companies have roughly quadrupled AI investment to nearly $400 billion a year, per a CNBC estimate shown in the video.
  • The video says OpenAI brings in around $20 billion in revenue against far larger spending.
  • The video says much of the buildout is financed with debt, and debt has repayment dates.
  • Burry estimates that five large cloud companies will understate depreciation costs by $176 billion between 2026 and 2028.

Why does Burry compare Nvidia to Cisco?

Burry argues Nvidia is a real business caught in a bubble, not a fraud. Nvidia sent a memo to Wall Street analysts pushing back on his thesis. He responded: “I am not claiming Nvidia is Enron. It is clearly Cisco.”

The comparison carries weight because Cisco was essential to the early internet. According to the video, Cisco held 86% of the router market in 1999 and built much of the internet’s plumbing. The video says its stock still fell 89% when the dot-com bubble burst, and shareholders from 1999 waited about 25 years to break even. Burry’s base case, per the video, is that an AI downturn arrives in 2028.

Person Position Bet, as the video describes it
Michael Dell Long AI hardware via Dell Technologies AI demand stays strong through 2028 and beyond
Michael Burry Put options on Nvidia and Palantir AI spending has far outrun revenue, like Cisco in 1999
Michael Saylor Long Bitcoin via Strategy Bitcoin is scarce and suits corporate treasuries

What does the AI trade have to do with Bitcoin?

The video argues that if Burry is even partly right, capital leaving AI stocks would need somewhere to go. It suggests Bitcoin, which it calls a scarce asset that “cannot be gamed.” This is the host’s thesis, not a documented trend. Nothing in the video shows money actually moving from AI into Bitcoin, and the video does not address how crypto might behave during an AI sell-off.

The video also concedes that if Burry is wrong, Dell keeps compounding and nothing changes for crypto holders. So the fair summary is this: two very wealthy investors disagree about AI, and Bitcoin is one possible beneficiary in one scenario.

The host also makes a point about personal planning. Everyday investors usually learn what the big players did weeks later, so it helps to decide ahead of time how you would take profits. Bullrunners’ five-step exit strategy plan walks through building one. The lessons in bull market calls vs $1B liquidations show why big predictions alone are a poor guide.

The signal the video says to watch: Strategy’s Monday purchases

The signal the video suggests is Strategy’s Bitcoin purchase announcements, which the company usually makes on Monday mornings. According to the video, Saylor said on stage that Strategy had bought the entire available supply the previous week. The video places that remark around the time Nvidia was reaching a $5 trillion valuation.

The host’s reading is that a jump in Strategy’s weekly purchase number shows capital rotating toward Bitcoin. Keep a few caveats in mind:

  1. Strategy’s purchases reflect one company’s decisions and funding, not the whole market.
  2. A large buy in one week does not, on its own, prove money is leaving AI stocks.
  3. Purchase announcements describe what already happened, not what will happen next.

Used as one data point among many, the weekly announcement is a simple public figure anyone can track.

What to watch next

Three things will show which side of this debate is holding up:

  1. AI revenue: whether companies like OpenAI close the gap between what they earn and what the industry spends.
  2. Dell Technologies’ orders and backlog in future quarters, since its results depend on AI demand staying high.
  3. Strategy’s Monday purchase announcements, if you want to follow the video’s suggested signal.

Burry’s 2028 timeline, Huang’s “parabolic” demand and the idea of capital rotating into Bitcoin are all forecasts. None of them is, on its own, a reason to change what you hold.

Frequently asked questions

Did Michael Dell buy Bitcoin?

According to the video, no. Dell posted 'Scarcity creates value' in June 2024 and reposted Michael Saylor's reply, but the video says he never bought Bitcoin and later stopped engaging with the topic.

What is Michael Burry betting against?

Burry's fund, Scion Asset Management, disclosed put options on Nvidia and Palantir with a reported face value of about $1.1 billion in a filing for the quarter ending September 30, 2025. Burry said he actually paid about $9.2 million for the Palantir puts. Puts gain value if a stock falls.

Why does Michael Burry compare Nvidia to Cisco?

Burry said Nvidia is not Enron but 'clearly Cisco.' According to the video, Cisco held 86% of the router market in 1999, yet its stock fell 89% after the dot-com bubble burst and took about 25 years to recover.

When does Burry expect the AI bubble to pop?

The video says Burry's base case for an AI downturn is 2028. That is a forecast, not a certainty.

What signal does the video say to watch for Bitcoin?

Strategy, Michael Saylor's company, usually announces its Bitcoin purchases on Monday mornings. The video treats rising purchase numbers as a sign that capital is moving toward Bitcoin. That reading is the host's interpretation.

From the video's captions, lightly formatted. Captions can mishear names and numbers, so check figures against the article above.

Michael Dell made us all think Bitcoin was next and then handed Jensen Huang $95 billion instead. In June of 2024, Dell went on Twitter and posted scarcity creates value. Michael Sailor pounced on it in real time with Bitcoin is digital scarcity. Dell reposted him and the whole crypto community lost its mind watching the second biggest treasury flipping history line up live on the main timeline. But Dell went silent.

Then he quietly stacked the biggest AI infrastructure deal in corporate history, which was $95 billion in Nvidia server orders. And he personally added $150 billion to his net worth this year on that one trade alone. The man even gave himself a title on national television right before he did it. Watch this.

I started the company with a $1,000 in my dorm room, and it's it's it's worked out pretty well. So, I'm I'm uh I'm, you know, the ultimate long-term investor.

Now, come on. The guy who built his whole legend on patience just handed Michael Seder the biggest note in Bitcoin Treasury history and spent the money going allin on Jensen Hang instead. And this week, Michael Bur put $1.1 billion on the exact opposite side of Dell's trade. Dell now controls $280 billion personally. He sits right on the fault line between Barry and Sailor with $400 billion a year of AI capital waiting to figure out which way to rotate.

And wherever that money runs, when the dust settles, your bag goes with it. But let's jump straight into the video. [music] All right, bull runners. Welcome back to the channel. If you're feeling bullish, like this video. And if you're going to become the first millionaire in your family tree, confirm it right now by subscribing to the channel and commenting 777 down below.

And stay with me until the end because there is one specific signal, one Monday morning announcement nobody on CNBC is tracking right now and it tells you the exact moment the capital rotation flips. And that is the loop you need to see. Let me set this up from you from the top. In June of 2024, Michael Dell posted three words on Twitter. Scarcity creates value.

That was it. Free words, nothing else. And the entire crypto community sat up and paid attention. Michael Sailor pounced on it in real time. He replied right underneath with Bitcoin is digital scarcity.

And Dell reposted him. And then Dell posted a picture of a cookie monster eating a Bitcoin as a joke, as a signal, as a wink to the whole community that was watching. Every analyst, every podcast, every ex account you follow saw the exact same thing at the same time. Michael Dell was being publicly recruited into the Bitcoin Treasury Club by the guy who literally invented the Bitcoin Treasury Club live on the main timeline in front of the whole industry. And at the time, Dell was sitting on $5.8 $8 billion in cash that was doing nothing, rotting away, getting eaten alive by inflation month after month.

That was the exact situation Sailor built his whole career telling corporate America to fix. And here is the pitch Sailor was making, not just to Dell, but to every corporate treasury on Earth. And this was the argument on national television laid out cleanly. No fluff. Just listen closely.

Bitcoin is the first thing you can use in your treasury that's more volatile that outperforms the S&P. The result is if I give you a security, Joe, that outperforms the S&P, how much of it do you want to buy? And if I give you, if you're an ARB or an options trader and I give you an option that is 4x the volatility of the S&P or with Micro Strategy, we're 10x the volatility of the S&P. How much of it do you want to trade? So, Bitcoin's unique in the history of the capital markets.

It's the first scarcity.

Now, come on. That pitch was built for exactly one guy, a corporate operator sitting on billions of dollars of cash. And Michael Dell happened to be the single biggest one on Earth watching that broadcast that day. Dell was earning essentially nothing on 5.8 billion in cash while his purchasing power got drained month after month. And Sailor was handing him the formula to double, triple, maybe even quadruple that pile.

And the crypto community waited and waited and Dell went completely silent on it. Never bought a coin, never mentioned it again. And the repo stopped. The Cookie Monster meme stopped and the whole conversation just vanished from his feed. Everybody assumed he was running the backroom math, running the board approval, getting ready to pull the trigger quietly like most of the courts guys do.

The thinking was that Michael Dell didn't announce things, he just does them. But Dell wasn't running the Bitcoin math. He was running a completely different trade. And here is what Michael Dell was actually doing behind the scenes while the crypto community was watching the wrong hand. Dell was quietly stacking the biggest AI infrastructure deal in corporate history.

And I don't mean a side bet or a toe in the water. I mean the whole house. $60 billion in AI server orders booked in a single quarter with a $95 billion backlog on top of that. And his AI server segment grew 757% yearover-year on one single segment of his company. And the entire thing runs on Nvidia chips. Now Dell is now Jason Hang's number one hardware partner on Earth. and every data center, every AI factory, every GPU cluster being built by every hyperscaler on the planet.

Dell is sitting right in the middle of it, bolting the racks together, shipping them out, and cashing the checks. And here is Jensen himself on stage at Dell Tech World, standing right next to Michael Dell, telling him exactly how big this trade is for both of them. Just listen to what he had to say next. So now we have we now have for the very first time useful AI which is the reason why your demand my demand is going parabolic utterly parabolic

because right it's going parabolic because uh agentic systems the AI has to understand has to reason has to think it has to plan use tools look at the results of the tools think about it some more come up with maybe an improved plan and so it iterates until it can get the job done.

Now, come on. That's the CEO of a $5 trillion company telling you live on stage that the AI trade has gone vertical and he can keep up with the demand coming at him. And look, the trade worked for both of them. Dell's stock has ripped 349% in 2026 alone. Michael Dell's net worth went from 141 billion in January to the number we started this video with today and he added $140 billion this year on AI chips instead of Bitcoin.

So the question becomes, did Dell just pick the right side? If you run the same move with his money two years ago, you look like the smartest guy in the room right now. And looking at that chart, it's hard to argue with him. The man is now the fourth richest person on the planet. And this is exactly where Michael Bur walks back into the story because if you have seen the big short, you know Bur.

He is the guy who called the housing crash in 2007 when every bank, every analyst, every financial channel on earth said that he was crazy. Then he was right. And then he made hundreds of millions of dollars on it. That is the guy. In November 2025, Bur logged back onto the internet after being quiet for nearly 2 years and he posted free sentences.

Sometimes we see bubbles. Sometimes there is something to do about it. Sometimes the only winning move is not to play. Then his fund filed and Seon asset management had $1.1 billion in put options against two companies, Nvidia and Palanteer, which are the two biggest AI winners on earth. And Barry just bet $1.1 billion that both of them are going to crack.

Then he did something nobody expected. He shut down his entire hedge fund, returned every dollar to his investors, dregistered from the SEC so he never has to disclose a position again, and then he started publishing his research publicly under the name, and I'm not making this up, Cassandra Unchained. Now, in Greek mythology, Cassandra is the one who sees the future and gets cursed to never be believed. And that tells you exactly how Bur thinks this ends. And here is CNBC breaking down what his team actually found inside the Seon research.

The numbers in this clip are what everything hinges on.

One estimate shows big tech companies have quadrupled their investment [music] to nearly $400 billion a year to build out AI. As Clifton puts it, just because the technology is [music] good for society or revolutionizes the world doesn't mean that it's a good business proposition. And [music] Scion sees a major parallel to the telecom boom in the early 2000s. Back then, companies poured a lot of money into fiber optic cables, way more than what demand ultimately justified. [music]

Now, do you feel that even Skon's research is only directionally right, that spend to revenue gap closes exactly one of two ways, which means either the AI revenue catches up fast, or the equity holders eat the difference. And nobody in that first camp has shown their math yet. Open AI is doing around 20 billion in revenue against 400 billion going out the door. And that is the gap Barry keeps circling. The hyperscalers, Dell's customers, the AI labs, the data center builders, you name it, they are all financing most of it with borrowed money and debt has a schedule.

Debt has to be paid back and that is the clock on this whole thing. And then Bur said the one line that reframes this entire video. When Nvidia sent out a memo to Wall Street analysts pushing back on his thesis, he came back with this.

I am not claiming Nvidia is Enron. It is clearly Cisco. Cisco made the essential hardware of the internet during the com boom. Now, that is wild because Barry just handed every AI ball on Earth a historical analogy that couldn't shake because the Cisco shareholders of 1999 had the same math on their side, the same market share, the same partner ecosystem, and they still waited 25 years to break even on that trade. Cisco wasn't a fraud.

Cisco was the real deal. Cisco literally built the plumbing of the internet with 86% market share of routters in 1999. And when the dotcom bubble popped, Cisco still fell 89%. Bur's base case for when the AI pop happens is 2028. Now hold both of these pictures in your head at the same time.

Dell's entire bet is that AI demand stays parabolic through 2028 and beyond. So his $95 billion backlog assumes it. His stock price assumes it and every dollar of his personal fortune assumes the music keeps playing. Barry's bet is the exact opposite. Barry says the AI buildout is Cisco in 1999.

The capital spent has already lapped the revenue earned by 20 times. The depation math is being gamed and big tech is understanding cost by 176 billion between now and 2028. That is his number. That is his research. And the whole thing is running on borrowed time.

Dell sits right on the fault line between the two sides with the AI capital waiting to figure out which way to rotate. And look, if Bur is wrong, Dell keeps compounding and nothing changes for you. But if Bur is right, even partially right, that AI capital has to rotate somewhere scarce, somewhere it cannot be gamed and somewhere Sailor was already pointing back in June of 2024 when he was begging Michael Dell to listen. That rotation is the biggest trade of this cycle. And there is one specific signal, one chart line, one single Monday morning announcement that tells you whether the capital rotation has already started or whether it is still 6 months out.

Now, nobody on CNBC is tracking it. Nobody in the mainstream press is tracking it. And I'm going to show you exactly what to watch before this video ends. But before I do, I have to be real with you for a minute. Look, you and me, we are not Michael Dell.

We don't get to pick between a Bitcoin treasury and an AI backlog with Jason Huang. And when we get to watch the pros position, we get to watch them move the pieces around the board. And most of the time, we find out which side they picked three weeks later on some news channel while the trade is already done. I get it. I've been that guy watching the Wales front run everything and feeling like I showed up late to a party that started without me.

But here's what you do get to control. You get to recognize the moment you get to take profits when the setup breaks. And you get to reposition before the catalyst, not after it. And look, I've been on the wrong side of this exact mistake before. Years ago, I turned about 20 grand into over 150,000 in one cycle.

And then I watched it bleed back down to almost zero because I didn't understand what I'm about to show you. Just holding and hoping wasn't a strategy. But nobody told me that. I had to learn it the hardest possible way. Which brings me to aid.

One of our accelerator members walked into the program with a Bitcoin position he was ready to just hold forever and never touch, which is the same hold and hope trap. Dell is apparently running right now at the top of his own personal mountain of money. But he didn't do that. He got on a Zoom call with the team, structured his portfolio properly, and skimmed 62,000 of profit off his Bitcoin right at the top, and he used it to pay off a massive chunk of his mortgage. and that is recognizing the moment and acting on it, which is the exact move the biggest man in the AI trade still has not figured out how to make. Now, results aren't typical, so don't be typical.

But inside the accelerated right now, you have got the exact room you need to make that call before the rotation hits. We've got Wall Street operators, retired guys protecting what they built after 30 years of work, newcomers trying to do this right the first time, and all running the same playbook with the research team on live calls every single week. So, the accelerator link in the description takes you to a 15-minute strategy call with our team. And if you have 50,000 or more in crypto sitting idle and you want to find out whether the accelerator is the right move for where you are, that is who the call is for. We walk you through your portfolio with you.

And if you are already positioned to survive whatever this cycle throws at us, we will tell you that too. But you don't find out by sitting on the sidelines watching Michael Dell pick the wrong side. You find out by booking the call. Now, crypto carries risk and past performance doesn't guarantee future results. This is education, not financial advice.

Now, here is what I promised you. The signal that tells you the rotation has already started. Strategy, which is Michael Sailor's company, announcing their Bitcoin purchasing on most Monday mornings. And right as Nvidia was hitting 5 trillion in October, Sailor said live on stage they had bought the entire available supply the previous week. That was one buyer, one week.

That kind of damage. Every Monday that purchase number spikes again as a Monday the capital rotation moved. And you will see it in that announcement before CNBC does before the mainstream guys do and before Michael Dell does as well. Now I will see you at the top. Thank you very much for watching.

As always, you know what to do. Stay bullish. Peace. Hey, [music] hey, hey. [music]
