Tokenization and the Wealth Transfer: Where XRP Holders Fit
The video argues AI, blockchains and tokenization are converging. What the DTCC, BlackRock and XRP Ledger figures show, and why custody matters.

Key takeaways
- The video's core argument is that AI, blockchains and tokenization are growing together, so change can arrive faster than straight-line thinking expects.
- The DTCC ran live tokenized trades with more than 30 firms in July 2026, and its tokenization service went live on October 28, 2026, on Canton and Hyperledger Besu.
- The video cites rwa.xyz figures putting about $5.4 billion of tokenized real-world assets on the XRP Ledger on October 24, 2026, though much of that value cannot move between wallets.
- The video's custody test: if you get into your crypto with an email and a password, the exchange usually holds the keys, not you.
- Celsius paused withdrawals, swaps and transfers in June 2022 with around 1.7 million users, a reminder to know where your coins sit before a crisis.
The video argues that one of the biggest transfers of wealth most people will see has already started, because AI, blockchains and tokenization are advancing together rather than one at a time. Host Rory points to tokenized trades at the DTCC, AI agents paying with stablecoins and, by an rwa.xyz count, about $5.4 billion of real-world assets tied to the XRP Ledger.
For XRP holders, the message is less about price and more about position. If more of the world’s assets move onto blockchains, the question of who holds the keys to your coins matters more. The video says that is the part worth getting right early.
What is the idea behind the wealth transfer argument?
The wealth transfer argument comes from the 2020 book The Future Is Faster Than You Think by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler. As the video describes it, the book’s central claim is that major technologies no longer arrive separately. They converge and speed each other up.
The video gives examples. AI makes robots better. Better chips make AI better. Blockchains give AI a way to move money. Tokenization lets ownership of real assets move across those networks in seconds. The video says Diamandis said in 2018 that every way people earn a living would change “this decade.” The book argues that when that many things change at once, large amounts of money change hands.
The video attaches a rough timeframe to this. It says Diamandis reckoned it all lands this decade, and it asks viewers to picture the world 10 years from now. The host also says plainly that nobody knows who the winners will be.
Why do people underestimate exponential change?
People underestimate exponential change because they assume the next five years will look like the last five. The video uses two illustrations to show why that fails.
- Thirty steps. This one is credited to Diamandis. Thirty normal steps of a meter each take you 30 meters. Thirty steps that each double take you over a billion meters, about 26 times around the planet.
- The doubling penny. The host calls this the version viewers have probably heard. A penny that doubles every day is worth only about $5,000 on day 20. On day 30 it is worth over $5 million that day alone.
The point is that most of the change is packed into the final stretch. As the video puts it, exponential growth feels boring for a long time and then happens all at once.
The video adds a historical example. In a 1995 interview, David Letterman joked about the internet with Bill Gates, asking “Does radio ring a bell?” In the same interview, Gates said computers might eventually be able to think, adding that some people thought that would never happen. Thirty years later, the video notes, AI writes code and reads contracts.
Are AI agents really paying with crypto?
AI agents are already making payments on blockchain rails, according to figures cited in the video. On October 14, 2026, Chainalysis reported that more than 138 million payments had gone through a crypto payment system called x402 on Coinbase’s Base network by July 1, 2026. Over 87% of those payments were for 10 cents or less.
The video describes this as machines paying machines in tiny amounts using digital dollars. Its argument is that AI is not growing on its own but on crypto rails. For more on this trend, see Bullrunners’ AI agent crypto news roundup for October 2026.
How far has tokenization actually got?
Tokenization at the core of US markets has moved from live testing to a working service, with the DTCC’s tokenization service going live on October 28, 2026. Here is the timeline, drawn from the video and DTCC announcements:
- January 2024: BlackRock CEO Larry Fink said the next step would be the tokenization of financial assets, with every stock and bond on one general ledger.
- March 2025: In his letter to investors, Fink wrote that every stock, bond, fund and asset can be tokenized.
- July 15, 2026: The DTCC, the company at the center of US stock market settlement, ran live trades using tokenized securities with more than 30 firms involved. Its depository holds over $114 trillion of assets.
- October 16, 2026: The DTCC set out its tokenization service. It would start with 25 securities across US equities, ETFs and Treasuries, with about $30 trillion of assets eligible over time. The two launch networks were the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Hyperledger Besu network, with Stellar and Circle’s Arc expected in 2027.
- October 24, 2026: The video says about $5.4 billion of tokenized real-world assets were tied to the XRP Ledger, counting everything rwa.xyz tracked.
- October 28, 2026: The DTCC announced its tokenization service was live on Canton and Besu. Twenty firms, including J.P. Morgan and Fidelity, can now tokenize securities held at DTC.
Ripple’s Brad Garlinghouse is quoted in the video saying that blockchains can remove the friction in settling transactions. In a second clip, he says that in areas where BlackRock is an expert, “you’re going to see it move faster than you all think.” The video presents that as a comment on how fast big money is moving on tokenization.
For background on the concept, see Bullrunners’ beginner’s guide to real-world asset tokenization. For which networks the DTCC chose, see the explainer on DTCC tokenization and why the XRP Ledger isn’t on the list.
Where does XRP fit in the wealth transfer?
According to the video, XRP fits through custody as much as through any partnership. The video says that with a coin like XRP, owning it and holding the key to it are the same thing: whoever holds the keys holds the coin.
The video draws on history to make its case. It says the largest fortunes of the industrial age went to owners of railways, oil and steel. The largest fortunes of the internet age went to those who built and owned the digital pipes. The host says the next shift is hitting finance, energy, health, transport and media at once. He argues that history favors people who understood the new pipes early and owned their piece of them. He does not claim to know which assets will win.
The host also shares a personal comparison. A swap on the XRP Ledger’s built-in exchange settled in seconds. Meanwhile, money he sends back and forth to America and Asia still takes three days.
What do Kodak and Celsius teach crypto holders?
Kodak and Celsius show two ways to end up on the wrong side of a technology shift. The first is ignoring it. The second is adopting it the old way.
In December 1975, Kodak engineer Steve Sasson took the first picture with a digital camera. Colleagues asked why anyone would want to look at photos on a television set. The video says Kodak had the future in its own lab and spent years protecting film instead. Kodak filed for bankruptcy in January 2012.
The video treats Celsius as the crypto version. On June 12, 2022, Celsius paused all withdrawals, swaps and transfers between accounts. It had around 1.7 million users at the time. As the video puts it, those users owned the new thing the old way, and somebody else decided when they got it back. For more on custody rules, see Bullrunners’ article on the SEC custody proposal and who owns your XRP.
A simple custody and planning check
The video offers a short test and a planning habit any holder can use:
- Open the app or platform where your crypto sits. The video’s test is that if you get in with an email and a password, the exchange holds the keys. Treat this as a starting point, since some self-custody wallets also use an email login. Confirm which kind you are using.
- Know where your coins sit. The video says people who came through past shifts well knew where their coins were held.
- Decide in advance, not on headline day. The video says most people decide on the day of a headline, while those who do well decided what they would do before things got loud.
- Think in ten-year terms. The host says he now asks what has to exist in ten years for tokenization and AI payments to work, rather than only watching next week’s move.
What to watch next
The video closes with a line from the 1996 edition of Bill Gates’ book The Road Ahead: people often overestimate what will happen in the next two years and underestimate what will happen in ten. The video’s argument is that a slow year in crypto can hide large changes in the plumbing of finance.
For holders, the useful markers are concrete. Watch whether the DTCC’s tokenization service, live since October 28 on Canton and Besu, adds more securities and firms. Watch whether Stellar and Circle’s Arc join in 2027 as expected. If you follow tokenized real-world assets on the XRP Ledger, note that the totals move between snapshots. rwa.xyz showed about $5.05 billion on October 17. Much of the value is “represented” assets that cannot move between wallets, and one energy token made up about 49% of represented value. Follow new data on AI agent payments as it is published. And check who holds the keys to every coin you own.
Frequently asked questions
What is tokenization in crypto?
Tokenization means putting the ownership of a real asset, such as a share or a bond, onto a blockchain as a token. The video says this lets ownership move across networks in seconds instead of days.
How much in tokenized assets is on the XRP Ledger?
According to the video, about $5.4 billion of tokenized real-world assets were tied to the XRP Ledger, counting everything rwa.xyz tracked on October 24, 2026. The figure changes between snapshots, and much of it is 'represented' assets that cannot move between wallets.
Are AI agents already making crypto payments?
The video cites an October 14, 2026 Chainalysis report. It found more than 138 million payments had gone through the x402 system on Coinbase's Base network by July 1, 2026, with over 87% worth 10 cents or less.
What did Bill Gates say about predicting technology?
In the 1996 edition of The Road Ahead, Gates wrote that people often overestimate what will happen in the next two years and underestimate what will happen in ten. The video uses this to argue that slow years can hide large changes.
How do I know if I hold the keys to my crypto?
The video offers a simple test: if you get into your crypto with an email and a password, the exchange holds the keys. As the video puts it, with crypto like XRP, whoever holds the keys holds the coin.

Most of us are massively underestimating how different the world's going to look 10 years from now. And it's got nothing to do with how switched on we are. Our brains are just built for straight lines, and the stuff that's coming next moves in curves. There's a book from 2020 that I reckon explains this better than anything else I've read. It's called The Future Is Faster Than You Think by Peter Diamandis and Steven Kotler.
And there's one idea in that every single XRP holder and anyone holding crypto needs to get their head around. The big technologies aren't turning up one at a time anymore. They're turning up together, all feeding off each other. Here's Diamandis himself a couple of years before the book came out.
But what we don't realize is the convergence of all of these technologies that are transforming business models. Every single company here, every single walk of life, every single way that we earn our living is going to change not in 30 years or 20 years, this decade.
This decade. In other words, within 10 years. And he said that in 2018. And the argument in that book is that when that many things change at once, an enormous amount of money changes hands. One of the biggest transfers of wealth any of us will see in our lifetime.
And I will show you why I reckon it's already started. So stick with me right to the end because there's one sentence Bill Gates wrote back in 1996, right as the internet was taking off. And I reckon it's the best warning about all of this I've ever read. And I'll give it to you at the end. I'm Rory and this is Bull Runners.

Right, at school most of us were taught that progress goes in a straight line. Every year things get a little better. Computers get a bit faster. Phones get a bit thinner. AI gets a bit cleverer.
And it all creeps up and to the right at the same steady pace. If we're honest, that's still how most of us picture it. But that's not what's happening anymore. These technologies have stopped growing on their own. They're starting to converge.
AI makes robots better. Better chips make AI better. Blockchains give AI a way to move money. And tokenization, which just means putting the ownership of a real thing, like a share or a bond, onto a blockchain as a token, lets all of that ownership move across those networks in seconds. Every breakthrough speeds up the ones next to it, and that's hardly anyone's ready for.
It's not one curve. It's a load of curves stacked on top of each other. And there's a simple reason we miss it. If something got a bit better over the last 5 years, we just assume it'll get the same bit better over the next five. Diamandis had a brilliant way of showing why that's wrong.
Take 30 normal steps, a meter each, and you've gone 30 m. You're across the road. Now, take 30 steps where every step doubles. 1 m, 2, 4, 8. By step 30, you've gone over a billion meters.
That's about 26 times around the planet. And that's why everything seems like a business as usual, right up until the day it isn't. Here's the perfect example. November 1995, David Letterman's got Bill Gates on his show, and he's asking him about this new internet thing.
But, but you know, I think about this and what about this internet thing? Do you Do you know anything about that?
Does radio ring a bell?
Does radio ring a bell? The whole audience loved it. And to be fair, that was a totally normal reaction in 1995. Look where we are now. You've probably heard the other version of this.
Would you take a million dollars right now or a penny that doubles every day for 30 days? Most of us grab the million. And for most of that month, we'd look pretty clever. On day 20, that penny's only worth about 5 grand. But, on day 30, it's worth over 5 million dollars on that one day alone, and over 10 million all told.
Same 30 days. All the difference is crammed into the last few. That's what exponential looks like from the inside. Boring, boring, boring, and then everything at once. And you don't have to take my word for it because we're watching it happen.
Go back to that same 1995 interview. Letterman asked Gates what comes after all this.
Uh eventually, we may figure out how to make the computer think. Some people think it'll never happen.
don't want them to think, do we?
Almost no progress, he said, and some people thought it would never happen. 30 years on, AI writes code, reads contracts, makes videos, and it's now started paying for things on its own. On the 14th of October 2026, Chainalysis reported that AI agents have made more than 138 million payments through one crypto payment system called X402 on Coinbase's Base network, and over 87% of them were for 10 cents or less. Machines paying machines, pennies or less at a time with digital dollars on a blockchain. And that's the bit that matters for us because AI isn't growing on its own here.
It's growing on crypto rails. So, let's talk about how the money itself is going to move because this is the part that matters most to anyone holding a bag. Blockchain was never just about coins. It's turning into a new set of pipes for the whole financial system. Stocks, bonds, funds, gold, property, the lot.
And the biggest money manager on the planet said it out loud years ago. This is Larry Fink, the boss of BlackRock in January 2024.
We believe the next step going forward will be the tokenization of financial assets. And that means every stock, every bond will have its own basically CUSIP. It'll be on one general ledger.
One general ledger, and he doubled down on it in writing. In his letter to investors in March 2025, Fink wrote that every stock, every bond, every fund, every asset can be tokenized. And here's how far it's actually got. On the 15th of July 2026, the DTCC, the company at the center of how American stock market settles, ran live trades using tokenized securities with more than 30 firms involved. Its depository holds over 114 trillion dollars of assets.
Then on the 16th of October, it set out what is tokenization service starts with. 25 securities to begin with, about 30 trillion dollars of assets eligible over time on two blockchains with Stellar and Circle's Alt Network penciled in for 2027. And it's happening on the XRP ledger, too. About 5.4 billion dollars of tokenized real world assets are now tied to the XRP ledger. Counting everything wrwa.xyz tracked on the 24th of October 2026.
Here's Ripple's Brad Garlinghouse on why this stuff matters.
There's so many examples where the settlement of transactions has a ton of friction. And blockchains can remove that friction.
Remove the friction. Settlement that takes days turns into seconds. Markets that shut on a Friday stay open all weekend. Then put AI on top of that, and a lot of it starts running itself. So, picture it.
10 years from now, your shares, your gold, maybe even the deeds to your house, all living on a ledger as tokens. Everything settles in seconds, any hour of the day. You've got an AI watching your whole portfolio while you sleep, flagging the risks and the chances as soon as they show up. No forms, no waiting 3 days for a transfer. Sounds brilliant, and a lot of it will be.
But there's one line nobody puts into the brochure. With crypto like XRP, owning it and holding the key to it are the same thing. Whoever holds the keys holds the coin. And as more and more of the world's money moves on chain, that's the one bit worth getting right early. That's honestly why the research team I work with spends so much time on this, watching which rails are getting built and who's building them.
And this is where the wealth transfer really comes in. Every big shift in technology moves money on a huge scale, and it tends to follow the same pattern. The biggest fortunes of the industrial age went to the people who owned the railways, the oil, and the steel. The biggest fortunes of the internet age went to the people who built and owned the digital pipes, the search engines, and the online shops. The next shift is hitting finance, energy, health, transport, and the media all at the same time, and the money's moving onto new rails again.
I'm not going to tell you who wins because nobody actually knows that. But history's pretty clear on who tends to come out ahead. The people who understood the new pipes early and owned their piece of them. Now, here's the flip side, and this is a bit I'd warn you about. The same technology that creates the winners wipes out whoever keeps doing it the old way.
My favorite example is Kodak. In December 1975, a young Kodak engineer called Steve Sasson took the first ever picture on a digital camera. Kodak invented it, and when he showed it round inside the company, this is what people wanted to know.
And you know, they asked me questions about what the impact of this would be, what the ramifications would be. You know, why would anybody want to look at their picture on a television set? How are they going to store these pictures? What's a What's a electronic photo album going to look like?
Why would anybody want to look at their pictures on a television? Kodak had the future in its own lab and spent years protecting film instead. In January 2012, Kodak filed for bankruptcy. And with crypto, being on the wrong side of this isn't only about missing it. Plenty of us have bought the new thing early and we're still holding it the old way.
It's on an exchange behind an email and a password, and somebody else holds the keys. On the 12th of June, 2022, Celsius paused all withdrawals, swaps, and transfers with around 1.7 million people on the platform by its own count. They owned the new thing the old way, and somebody else decided when they got it back. So, here's one for free. Open whatever your crypto sits on right now.
If you get in with an email and a password, the exchange holds the keys. Tell me in the comments how yours is held. Be honest, loads of us have been there. What stuck with me most from that book was a question, more than any forecast. Stop asking what happens if AI takes off or what happens if tokenization takes off.
Ask what happens when they all take off at the same time. AI, robots, blockchains, quantum computing, cheaper energy, satellites, all pushing each other along. Because that's the world we're heading into, and D Amandy's reckoned it all lands this decade. And here's Garlinghouse again in that same talk on how fast the big money's moving on tokenization.
But there's plenty of examples where BlackRock is an expert, and I think you're going to see it move faster than you all think.
Faster than you will think. And that's the trap for all of us. When it's moving that fast, the moment to get sorted isn't when everyone's talking about it, because by then it's already moved. Most people end up deciding on the day of a headline with their heart going. The people who come out of these shifts well decided what they do before it got loud.
They knew where their coins sat, and they knew when they'd move. For me personally, it's changed how I think about all of it. I've traded for years, and I used to live in next week. What's the next move? Where's the next level?
Now I spend a lot of time asking what has to exist in 10 years for all of this to work, and what that world's going to need. And I've had a taste of both worlds. I've used tokenized products myself, and I've done a swap on the XRP Ledger's own exchange, and it was done in seconds. Meanwhile, the money I send back and forth to America and Asia still takes 3 days. 3 days of staring at pending.
Nobody gets all of it right, and you don't need to. You just need to see which way it's heading early enough to get yourself set up, and that's a lot of what I get from the team. So, that sentence I promised you. The year after he sat on Letwin's sofa, Bill Gates put out a new edition of his book, The Road Ahead, and in it he wrote this. People often overestimate what will happen in the next 2 years, and underestimate what will happen in 10.
I think we're doing exactly that right now. We look at a slow year in crypto and assume nothing's happening while the pipes under the whole financial system are getting swapped out. It's coming guys, quicker than most of us are ready for. And look, most of us can feel this already. We just haven't done much about it because nobody ever actually sat us down and showed us where to start, did they?
I've been there myself. Thing is, it's fixable and it's honestly easier than it sounds. That's what our private intelligence network is for guys. Most of what I bring you on this channel comes from inside it and in there it goes a lot deeper than I can in one video. Basically, the research team digs into where this is heading and members hear it first.
They'll help you get it on your own keys. So, no bank or exchange can freeze it, which is exactly where you want to be as more and more of the world's assets move on chain. They'll show you how to get what you're already holding earning instead of just sat there. And every week there's a call where the team says when they're buying and when they're taking profit so you're not guessing. And everyone in there is holding a decent bag and they're in it for the long haul so same as you and me.
Honestly, I'd be a lot further along myself if we'd started a little Coin Pro sooner. And if you opened your app earlier and it was an email and a password to get in, that is exactly what the 15 minutes is for. Plenty of us bought a big bag of XRP years ago and have watched it go up and down ever since. Not really sure what to do with it. One of our members, Agnes, was right there and this is what she wrote and it's a real review in her own words.
She bought a load of XRP back in 2021 and she said she spent years watching it go up and down without really knowing what to do with it. Some healthy profits, some painful losses, mostly just staring at numbers on a screen. Then in December 2025, she got on a call with Ryan, decided to stop getting and joined the accelerator program. She says it's given her the tools, the structure, and the support to finally trade with confidence. And she rates the coaches, the daily support, and the research.
Results like Agnes's are exceptional and they didn't happen by sitting still. So, be exceptional. Look, you could leave it and hope the timing works out or try and piece it together yourself at midnight reading about tokenization and AI agents like we all have. I'd rather you just spend 15 minutes with the team and came away with a plan for your bag. It's free and the worst case is you come away clearer.
So, here's what I'd do. Tap more under this video and hit the very first link. Watch the short free briefing then hit the button underneath it. Fill in the quick form. It takes under a minute and book your free 15-minute call with someone on the team.
They'll look at what you're holding and tell you straight whether it's right for you. That's the first link. It's built for people holding $50,000 or more in crypto and if that's not you yet, that's absolutely fine. Keep watching these videos with me. They're up every day.
They're free and we'll keep learning this together. And look, none of this is financial advice, guys. It's just me, a coffee, and a lot of hard research. Crypto carries a risk and what's happened before is no guarantee of what happens next. Your keys stay with you and the team never needs them.
So, stick with me, hit subscribe, and there's a new one every day. Thanks for watching, guys. Keep your head, stack with purpose, and I'll keep you posted.
