Binance Pardon, USD1 and the Don Jr. Wedding: What Senators Allege

Senator Curtis wants Don Jr. and Hunter Biden subpoenaed over a Russian-hosted wedding party. How the story reached Binance's CZ pardon and World Liberty's USD1.

Video: Binance Pardon, USD1 and the Don Jr. Wedding: What Senators Allege

Key takeaways

  • Senator John Curtis, a Utah Republican, asked the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden as part of a wider look at presidential families profiting from their ties.
  • Don Jr. and his wife confirmed to ProPublica that Umar Kremlev, a Russian businessman decorated by Putin, hosted two nights of their wedding celebrations. Trump said Kremlev did not pay for the wedding itself.
  • An Abu Dhabi-backed firm, MGX, invested $2 billion in Binance and paid in USD1, World Liberty Financial's stablecoin. Senator Dick Durbin's claim that Changpeng Zhao brokered the deal is his allegation.
  • The claim that these deals are quietly repricing the crypto market is the host's opinion. The video offers no data to support it.
  • Every stablecoin has an issuer and every exchange has a legal standing, and both can be affected by political decisions.

Republican Senator John Curtis of Utah has asked the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden, after reports that a Putin-linked Russian businessman paid for part of Don Jr.’s wedding celebrations. Democratic Senator Dick Durbin backed the request and pointed to Binance founder Changpeng Zhao’s pardon, pulling crypto into the story.

The crypto link runs through USD1, the stablecoin issued by the Trump family’s World Liberty Financial. An Abu Dhabi-backed firm used USD1 to pay for a $2 billion investment in Binance. The video argues that well-connected players move money on the same exchanges and stablecoins ordinary investors use. This article separates what is on the record from the host’s interpretation, and notes where facts are disputed.

What did Senator John Curtis ask for?

Senator John Curtis asked the Senate Judiciary Committee to subpoena both Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden, as part of a wider probe into presidential families using their ties for money. His letter, sent in late September 2026, went to Chairman Chuck Grassley and ranking member Dick Durbin. The video notes that Curtis is a Republican two years into a six-year term, which makes the request unusual.

Curtis repeated his case in a post on X:

“A toaster is a wedding gift. A private-island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else. Republicans nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden’s foreign relationships… Trust us was not enough then and it is not enough now.”

In a PBS interview, Curtis was more direct: “It’s corruption.”

The Bahamas celebrations took place in May, and ProPublica first reported the story. Don Jr. and his wife confirmed to ProPublica that Umar Kremlev “very generously hosted” two nights. ProPublica reported about 50 guests, as well as fireworks and dancers. The video adds more detail: fireworks costing about $70,000, around 10 Russians in attendance, helicopters, and a cake flown in from Florida.

Who is Umar Kremlev?

Umar Kremlev is the president of the International Boxing Association (IBA) and the Russian businessman at the center of the story. Here is what is known about him, with sources noted:

  • The International Olympic Committee withdrew its recognition of the IBA in June 2023, citing problems with governance, finances and corruption. The video adds Russian control as a reason. That is the video’s framing.
  • Gazprom, Russia’s state-owned energy company, is the IBA’s sole sponsor.
  • Ukraine has sanctioned Kremlev. The video says the sanctions relate to his role in the war. News reports say Ukraine cited his ties to Putin and Russian security agencies.
  • Vladimir Putin awarded him the Order of Friendship on April 22, 2026, according to an IBA press release.
  • The video says he traveled to China with Putin’s state delegation days before the wedding. His press office told ProPublica he was not part of the official delegation.

The video also cites a news clip saying Forbes puts Don Jr.’s net worth at about $300 million. Democrats raised that figure to ask why he would accept the hospitality.

On PBS NewsHour, ProPublica reporter Justin Elliott described the view of a former FBI counterintelligence official he spoke with: “His concern was if somebody pays for your wedding, at some point you’re going to owe them something.”

How did the White House and Republican leaders respond?

President Trump told reporters the party was “totally allowed.” He said that, as he understood it, his son “paid him back,” and described the host as a friend of Don Jr.’s. In a separate statement, Trump said “I have no idea who Umar is.” The same statement said Kremlev did not pay for the wedding itself, calling the event an “afterparty.” A group photo published by ProPublica shows Kremlev at the celebrations, with Jared Kushner also present.

Other responses:

Who Position What they said
Hunter Biden Named in Curtis’s subpoena request Said in a post quoted by the video that he would testify alongside Don Jr. “anytime, anyplace”
Tom Emmer House Majority Whip Called it “a new Russia hoax” and said Don Jr. is a private citizen
Chris Murphy Democratic senator Called it “naked corruption” and “as close to treason as you get”
Dick Durbin Democratic Senate whip Backed the Curtis letter and raised the Binance pardon

The host argues this shows one party using two rule books for the same set of facts.

What does the Binance pardon have to do with crypto?

Senator Dick Durbin tied the wedding story to crypto through Binance founder Changpeng Zhao. In a Judiciary Committee clip, Durbin described Zhao’s case as “a money laundering scheme.” He said Zhao then “brokered a deal to channel $2 billion into the Trump family’s crypto business,” meaning World Liberty Financial, after which President Trump pardoned him.

Here is what the record shows:

  1. Zhao pleaded guilty to failing to maintain an anti-money laundering (AML) program at Binance. He was sentenced on April 30, 2024, fined $50 million, and served four months. “Money laundering scheme” is Durbin’s wording, not the charge.
  2. MGX, an Abu Dhabi-backed investment firm, invested $2 billion in Binance and paid in USD1, Bloomberg reported in May 2025. The video calls MGX a UAE state fund. The money went into Binance, not into World Liberty Financial itself. Durbin’s claim that Zhao brokered the deal has not been independently confirmed.
  3. President Trump granted Zhao a full pardon on October 23, 2025.
  4. The video says, citing World Liberty’s website, that the Trump family holds about 22.5 billion WLFI tokens. That matches figures reported in September 2025. The current number may differ.
  5. The video also cites $1.4 billion in crypto income for 2025. That figure comes from Donald Trump’s personal financial disclosure for 2025, a 927-page filing the Office of Government Ethics released on June 30, 2026, according to Time. Durbin’s clip does not mention it.

The video makes two further claims. First, it says Binance accounts sent about $1.7 billion to Iranian entities linked to terrorist groups. Fortune reported that former Binance investigators found Iran-linked wallets received $1.7 billion through people and businesses with Binance accounts, and that some of it went on to wallets linked to the IRGC and the Houthis. Binance denies the reports, and Senator Richard Blumenthal has opened a probe.

Second, the video says the Justice Department’s crypto enforcement team was shut down by Attorney General Todd Blanche, Trump’s former defense lawyer. The timing needs correcting. Blanche dissolved the National Cryptocurrency Enforcement Team in a memo dated April 7, 2025, while he was Deputy Attorney General. He became acting Attorney General in April 2026, and the Senate confirmed him in August 2026.

For background on the token, see our look at what the WLFI token reserve report shows.

Is this repricing the crypto you hold?

The video argues that it is, but that is the host’s interpretation, and the transcript does not prove it. The host’s case is that when money moves through crypto at this scale, $2 billion in one place and $1.7 billion in another, the market is repriced without retail investors noticing. He points to Bitcoin trading in a wide range for months while these deals were being made.

In his view, the biggest players use the same rails as everyone else but act first when a deal, a pardon or a regulatory carve-out comes along. Retail, he says, “keeps buying the news 3 weeks after the institutional trade cleared.”

The video offers no price data or flow analysis linking these specific deals to market moves, and a sideways market can have many causes. Readers should judge the political reporting, which is attributed to named senators and outlets, separately from the market theory.

What holders can check for themselves

This section is Bullrunners’ own editorial, not from the video. Readers cannot influence Senate subpoenas, but they can understand their exposure to the kinds of companies and tokens in stories like this one:

  1. Know where your coins sit. Coins on an exchange depend on that company’s standing with regulators. Our guide on how exchange shutdowns affect your coins explains the difference.
  2. Know who issues your stablecoins. Every stablecoin has an issuer with owners, legal obligations and, in some cases, the power to freeze tokens. See why XRP cannot be frozen but stablecoins can.
  3. Separate reporting from theory. Ask whether a claim comes from a filing, a named official, a news outlet or a host’s interpretation.
  4. Treat policy as its own risk. Pardons, enforcement changes and carve-outs can change the rules for an exchange or token quickly, in either direction.

What to watch next

The main open question is whether the Judiciary Committee acts on the Curtis letter. A committee spokesperson told CBC that holding a hearing before year-end would be “difficult,” and the host expects Grassley not to issue a subpoena. Also watch for any findings from Senator Blumenthal’s probe into Binance, Binance’s response, and updated figures on World Liberty Financial’s WLFI holdings and USD1. Until documents support them, treat the video’s claims about market repricing as one host’s argument.

Frequently asked questions

Why was Changpeng Zhao pardoned?

The video does not cite an official reason. Zhao pleaded guilty to failing to maintain an anti-money laundering program at Binance, served four months, and was pardoned by President Trump on October 23, 2025. Senator Dick Durbin alleges the pardon followed a $2 billion deal Zhao brokered, which is Durbin's claim.

What is USD1?

USD1 is the stablecoin issued by World Liberty Financial, the Trump family's crypto business. MGX, an Abu Dhabi-backed investment firm, used USD1 to pay for a $2 billion investment in Binance.

What did Senator John Curtis ask for?

In a late-September 2026 letter to Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley and ranking member Dick Durbin, Curtis asked the committee to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. and Hunter Biden. He framed it as part of a wider probe into presidential families using their ties for money.

How much did Donald Trump make from crypto in 2025?

Donald Trump's personal financial disclosure for 2025, a 927-page filing released by the Office of Government Ethics on June 30, 2026, is the source of the $1.4 billion crypto income figure the video cites.

Does this affect the price of my crypto?

The video argues that large deals moving through crypto rails are repricing the market without retail investors noticing. That is the host's opinion, and the video offers no data showing a direct link to prices.

From the video's captions, lightly formatted. Captions can mishear names and numbers, so check figures against the article above.

Vladimir Putin just bought Donald Trump's son in broad daylight. And the Kremlin left us the receipt sitting right there on the floor on the United States Senate. A Russian oligarch personally decorated by Putin paid for the president's son wedding on a private island in the Bahamas. And the exact same administration pardoned Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao for money laundering right after $2 billion of Emirati cash flowed through Binance into the Trump's family's own stablecoin. Now one sitting Republican senator finally said the word out loud on a national camera.

Watch what he had to say.

As a Republican, he broke ranks with many in the GOP by saying that this wedding party in the Bahamas back in May paid for by a Russian oligarch amounted to corruption.

Now come on, that line just came out of a sitting Republican's own mouth. And it is going to end up in a history book. Now let me walk you through what that private island party actually looked like because the receipts are wild. $70,000 of fireworks over the ocean, 10 Russians in the room, choreographed dancers, private helicopters, a five-tier funfetti cake airlifted in from Florida. You name it. All of it paid for by a man that Ukraine has personally sanctioned that Putin himself pinned a medal on at the Kremlin.

And that was traveling with Putin's own state delegation to China days before he flew to the Bahamas to write those checks. And that is a payment on account. Nothing less. And in case anybody is wondering just how deep this Russian connection to Moscow actually runs, listen to how NBC's own anchor confirmed it on air.

Remember that that Russian with ties to Vladimir Putin's inner circle helping to foot the bill for some of Don Jr.'s wedding celebrations.

The number one broadcast network in America confirming on air exactly what this is. And here is the piece that nobody on cable is willing to touch because Don Jr. wasn't actually short on cash. Local news out of Detroit broke the part of this that the national networks are tiptoeing around. Just watch this.

Democrats, however, asking why Don Jr. would need a Russian oligarch to pay for his wedding party. After all, Forbes recently put his net worth at some $300 million.

A $300 million man and he still took the Russian oligarchies checks. Now, here is where this stops being a political scandal and starts eating your crypto portfolio alive. The Russian pays for the honeymoon on one side of the ocean and your crypto rails become the laundry mat on the other. And your bag pays the tab for all of it. And in case anybody still wants to argue this is a coincidence, here's exactly how tight the connection between Kremliv and the Kremlin actually goes.

Russian President Vladimir Putin presented with the Order of Friendship Award in April 2026, according to an IBA press release which featured a photo of Putin and Kremliv shaking hands.

So, Putin personally pinned a medal on the guy earlier that same year. And the Trump White House still claims they've never heard of him. By the end of this video, you are going to see exactly why one Republican broke ranks and said corruption out loud and exactly how the same pattern is quietly repricing the crypto you are holding right now.

All right, ball runners, welcome back to the channel. If you're feeling bullish, like this video and if you're going to become the first millionaire in your family tree, confirm it right now by subscribing to the channel and commenting 777 down below. But let's jump straight into it. Firstly, let me walk you through exactly what happened because once you see the pattern, you cannot unsee it. And by the end of this video, you'll understand how a sitting Republicans one word connects directly to the crypto that you and I are holding.

So, Senator John Curtis of Utah sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee asking his own party to drag Donald Trump Jr. into a hearing room and put him under oath. He's a sitting Republican senator 2 years into a 6-year term and he's asking Chuck Grassley to subpoena the president's son. Here's ABC News on the letter Curtis sent. Just listen to what he had to say.

I quote, "A toaster is a wedding gift. A private island party paid by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else."

A Republican 2 years into a 6-year term saying that on the record to a national news camera about the sitting president's own son. Now, that is not something you walk back the next morning. Now, Curtis backed it up with a public post on X. And here's what he wrote word for word. "A toaster is a wedding gift.

A private island party paid for by a Putin-connected oligarch is something else. Republicans nearly wore out the subpoena machine investigating Hunter Biden's foreign relationships. Now, we should not unplug it now. Trust us was not enough then and it is not enough now." And that is a Republican Senate telling a Republican Senate that we cannot have two rule books anymore. But let's now talk about who this Russian actually is because the mainstream is soft-pedaling this part hard.

His name is Umar Kremlev and he runs the International Boxing Association, which is the boxing group so dirty that the Olympics kicked them out over corruption and Russian control. His organization is financed by Gazprom, the Russian state-owned energy giant. Ukraine has sanctioned him for the role he has played in the war. And earlier that same year, Vladimir Putin walked up to him and pinned the Order of Friendship medal on his chest. One month after Putin decorates him, he flies to the Bahamas to pay for the president's son's wedding.

And days before that, he was in China, traveling as part of Putin's official state delegation. So, it goes straight from Putin's plane to the private island in the Bahamas to writing checks for the president's own son. Nobody's schedule accidentally lines up like that. And Don Jr.'s net worth, per Forbes, is roughly $300 million. But yet he still needed a Russian to pay for his fireworks.

Here is the ProPublica reporter who broke the whole story on the PBS NewsHour telling the anchor what the former FBI counter intel guys told him privately when he called them. Just take a look.

His concern was if somebody pays for your wedding, at some point you're going to owe them something.

Now, do you feel that? That is the entire ballgame in one sentence. And it came out of a private call between a Pelotza-adjacent investigative reporter and a guy who spent his whole career running counter intel for the bureau. And the man who is supposed to be asking Don Jr. about any of this is the same man who signed his paycheck growing up. Now, let's talk about what happened when a reporter asked the president himself about all of this.

And his answer is going to tell you everything about this, about how this administration plans to handle it. Just watch this.

Well, it's totally it's totally allowed, and a lot of people have parties and uh but it's totally allowed. But, as I understand it, he paid him back. He didn't want to have that. So, I hear he paid him back. Uh a person that he knows, pretty I guess a friend of his, they gave him a wedding party.

Watch the shape of the answer for a second, because it tells you everything. The president dodged the guy's name completely. He didn't see Umer's name. He didn't call him a Russian oligarch. He just called him a friend of his.

And then his own press office put out a written statement, and I want you to read this slow. Quote, "I have no idea who Umer is." Now, that's wild. Never heard of him. That's a 50-person wedding with 10 Russians in the room and Kremlev sitting there in the back photo ProPublica dug up, and Jared Kushner right there at the reception. And the father of the groom is claiming he has no idea who this guy is.

Then Hunter Biden, of all people, jumped in and made the whole thing impossible to ignore. Here's his post word for word. Senator Curtis of Utah has suggested that Don Jr. and I should testify before Congress. I say, "Bring it on." I've already given more than 7 hours of sworn testimony. I had no foreign business dealings while my father was president.

None. I'll sit next to Don Jr. and testify anytime, anyplace. Let's all do it tomorrow. So, the guy who spent years being investigated by every Republican in Washington is now saying, "Put us both under oath tomorrow." And the Trump camp is dodging. And the GOP leadership response is where the second rule book comes right out into the open.

And here is House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, number three Republican in the house, telling Kushner to sit down and shut up. And here's what he wrote. Some senators want to waste time creating a new Russian hoax and attacking Don Jr. Don Jr. is a private citizen and businessman, so this unwarranted attack will go nowhere. The partisan distraction is not what the American people voted for.

So, the number three House Republican just called documented Russian payments to the president's son a Russia hoax. Right after his own Senate colleague used the word corruption in writing. Now, that's two Republicans in two completely different rule books on the exact same set of facts. Then Senator Chris Murphy stood up and made the whole thing land where it actually lands. Just listen to this.

Never before has a foreign enemy of the United States paid for the family wedding of the president. Why? Because it is naked corruption in plain view. It is as close to treason as you get.

That is a sitting United States Senator using the T-word on the record on a live camera talking about the president's own family. And that word carries very specific meaning in the Constitution, and Murphy knows that. He didn't pick it lightly. But now here is where the whole thing lands on your portfolio. Because everything I just walked you through, the Russian money, the president's son, the Senator using the T-word on camera, all of that is the visible top of the iceberg.

Right underneath it is where crypto sits. And Senator Dick Durbin walked the Judiciary floor through it. Right after he backed the Curtis letter, he pivoted to the specific example that ties the whole story together. Just listen to what he had to say.

In April [clears throat] 2024 Changpeng Zhao, the founder of the cryptocurrency Binance, was sentenced to prison and ordered to pay a $50 million fine for a money laundering scheme. He then brokered a deal to channel $2 billion into the Trump family's crypto business, World Liberty Finance. After that, President Trump pardoned Zhao.

Now, that is the Senate whip of the Democratic Party laying out a quid pro quo on the Judiciary Committee floor. And the mainstream press moved on the same afternoon. And he set up by reminding a room that Trump family raked in 1.4 billion dollars from crypto in 2025 per federal disclosure. Now that figure is filed with the Office of Government Ethics, verified in a 927-page federal document. Not a campaign spin.

So let me unpack what Durbin walked through because he said it faster than most people can process. Zhao pled guilty to failing to maintain an anti-money laundering program at Binance, served four months, and then a UAE state fund ran 2 billion dollars through Binance using USD 1, which is the stablecoin issued by the Trump family's own World Liberty Financial. After that deal closed, Zhao got a full presidential pardon. And according to the World Liberty's own site, the Trump family is sitting on roughly 22 and a half billion WLFI tokens. That is the position the pardon protected.

And on top of all of that, Binance accounts have funneled about 1.7 billion dollars to Iranian entities linked to terrorist groups. And the Justice Department's crypto enforcement team, the one that would have investigated any of it, was shut down by Attorney General Todd Blanche, who is Trump's former personal defense attorney. Now guys, all four of those things are the same story. The Russian oligarch pays for the son's wedding. The Chinese Emirati crypto money flows into the family stablecoin.

The founder of the exchange that took the money gets a pardon. And the enforcement team that would have investigated any of it disappears. And here is the piece that hits your bag directly. Every time institutional money moves through crypto routes at this scale, 2 billion here, 1.7 billion there, the market you're holding is quietly being repriced without you. Bitcoin has been raging in a wide zone for months, and the whole crypto market has been chopping around while these deals get cut in the backroom.

And the reason isn't that the tech is broken. The reason is that the biggest players are quietly moving positions using the same rails you use. And when the door opens for a deal, for a pardon, for a regulatory carve out, they are already inside the room. Now, that is the great reset happening in real time. And retail keeps buying the news 3 weeks after the institutional trade cleared.

So, Cortez knows it. Durbin knows it. The retired FBI guy on PBS knows it. Chris Murphy called it treason to a live C-SPAN camera. And even if Grassley never calls the subpoena, and let's be honest, he probably won't, the pattern is now on the record.

You cannot unsee it. Now, the only question left is this. Do you use what you just saw to reposition yourself, or do you sit still and let the same door close on you that closed on everybody who watched 2019 through 2022 happen and thought somebody will fix this? Look, you just watched something you cannot unsee. Now, you're sitting there wondering how much else you've been missing this whole time, and if the game was ever going to be played straight in the first place.

I get it. That was me 2 years ago staring at the ceiling at 3:00 in the morning wondering the exact same thing. So, let me show you what happens when somebody stops watching from the sidelines and actually walks through the door before it closes on them. One of our members, James, walked into the accelerator with $20,000 in back taxes weighing him down. And that is the exact kind of ordinary debt the political class never has to feel because a Russian oligarch pays for their fireworks and their Justice Department dismantles the enforcement team that would have asked why.

But James didn't have a Russian friend. What James had was a strategy. He used the team's positioning framework, learned the actual mechanics of the crypto side of the system, paid off every dollar of that 20,000, and then used what he built after to buy his first house. Now, results aren't typical, so don't be typical, but inside the accelerator right now, you have got operators who came from Wall Street, retired guys protecting what they had built, and people who watched a story like this one and decided they weren't going to sit on the sidelines while billion-dollar deals get moved around them. There's weekly calls with the research team, plus one-on-one coaching, and a group chat where the actual conversation is the signal.

So, the Great Reset briefing link in the description takes you straight to a 15-minute call with our team, where we'll walk you through your portfolio and tell you if the accelerator is the right move for where you're standing right now. And if you're already positioned to be on the right side of this thing, we'll tell you that, too. Because you don't find that out by sitting on the sidelines watching the door close on you. You find that out by booking a call. Crypto carries risk, and past performance doesn't guarantee future results.

This is education, not financial advice. I will see you at the top. Thank you very much for watching. As always, you know what to do. Stay bullish.

Peace.
