XRP at $20: What 1,000 XRP Would Be Worth and What It Takes

What $20 XRP would mean for 1,000 XRP, the $1.27 trillion market cap behind it, what Garlinghouse said about XRP vs RLUSD, and 3 numbers to track monthly.

Video: XRP at $20: What 1,000 XRP Would Be Worth and What It Takes

Key takeaways

  • At $20, 1,000 XRP would be worth $20,000, but that needs a roughly 15x move from the $1.31 price at recording and a market cap of about $1.27 trillion.
  • Using about 63.35 billion XRP in circulation, a $20 price would put XRP at about 78% of Bitcoin's $1.62 trillion market cap at the time of recording.
  • Market cap is not the same as money flowing in, and escrow releases keep raising circulating supply, so any price target needs both caveats.
  • Ripple's revenue growth and acquisitions do not automatically flow to XRP holders, who get no shares, dividends or profits from Ripple.
  • The video suggests tracking three numbers monthly: RLUSD on the XRP Ledger, XRP ETF inflows and wallets holding 1 million XRP or more.

At $20 per XRP, a holding of 1,000 XRP would be worth $20,000. That is a move of roughly 15 times from the $1.31 price cited in a recent Bullrunners video. It would also require a market cap of about $1.27 trillion, or roughly 78% of Bitcoin’s size at the time of recording.

The $20 figure comes from an open letter to Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse and David Schwartz. Its author, an XRP holder, said XRP “deserves” $15 to $20 and argued that Ripple had secured its own future while leaving holders behind. The letter gave the target but not the reasoning. In the video, the host runs the math and sets out what it can and can’t tell holders. He also covers what Garlinghouse said about XRP and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, and which numbers are worth checking each month.

Why are some XRP holders frustrated with Ripple?

Some XRP holders feel Ripple is growing into a large business while XRP’s price lags behind. The letter writer framed it as a shared fight, pointing to the years holders spent alongside Ripple during the SEC lawsuit. He wrote to Ripple’s leaders: “you secured your future while leaving ours in the cold.”

The video calls the core concern legitimate. Owning XRP does not mean owning Ripple. Holders receive no dividends and no share of Ripple’s profits. When Ripple buys another company, they gain nothing automatically. The video adds that Ripple has sold XRP over the years and that its XRP holdings are an important asset for the company. Bullrunners has covered this gap before in why a Ripple win isn’t automatically an XRP win.

Ripple’s recent run of news makes the gap more visible. In one interview around Ripple’s Swell conference, the interviewer listed these milestones:

  • approval of Ripple’s National Trust Bank application
  • Robinhood integrating Ripple Treasury and bringing RLUSD to 29 million customers
  • BNY adding custody for XRP and RLUSD

Garlinghouse said Ripple spent about $2.5 billion on acquisitions last year. He named two big ones, Hidden Road and GTreasury, and described them as “both about a billion dollars.” Reported deal prices were $1.25 billion for Hidden Road and $1 billion for GTreasury. He said Ripple has been “happily private” for about 12 years and is not in a hurry to go public, though that “may be a chapter” in the future.

What would 1,000 XRP be worth at different prices?

The value of 1,000 XRP rises in step with the price, but each level needs a much larger market cap behind it. Here is the video’s math for a holder with 1,000 XRP.

XRP price Value of 1,000 XRP Note
$1.31 $1,310 Price at time of recording
$3.65 $3,650 July 2025 high, which the video calls the all-time high
$5 $5,000
$10 $10,000
$20 $20,000 About 15x from $1.31

The video points out that $20 is about five and a half times that $3.65 high. Trackers differ on the record: some list $3.65 in July 2025 as the all-time high, while others put it at $3.84 in January 2018. XRP has also traded lower since the recording, near $1.16 in later market reports.

How big would XRP be at $20?

At $20, XRP’s market cap would be about $1.27 trillion, close to Bitcoin’s size. A price means little on its own. Market cap is the price multiplied by the number of coins in circulation. The video uses TradingView’s figure of about 63.35 billion XRP circulating. At $1.31, that is about $83 billion.

Here is how $1.27 trillion compares with the figures cited in the video at the time of recording:

  • Bitcoin: $1.62 trillion, so $20 XRP would be about 78% of Bitcoin
  • Ethereum: $296 billion, so $20 XRP would be more than four Ethereums
  • Tether: $178 billion, so $20 XRP would be about seven Tethers

Counting every XRP that exists, almost 100 billion, a $20 price works out to about $2 trillion. That would be larger than Bitcoin. For more on this kind of calculation, see what the market cap math shows for big XRP targets.

Garlinghouse often notes that XRP was the second most valuable digital asset before the SEC lawsuit. The video adds context. According to the host, XRP held that spot for a short spell around the start of 2018, and a $1.27 trillion market cap is “a different planet” from where the number two coin sat back then.

Is a 15x move realistic?

The video’s answer is “not impossible, just not normal.” In early November 2024, XRP traded around 50 cents. By July 2025 it reached $3.65, a gain of about 7x in nine months. Getting from $1.31 to $20 would take roughly two of those runs back to back.

The options market points to much smaller moves in the near term. According to the video, options traders were pricing about an 8.7% move by November 8, a range of roughly $1.16 to $1.38. That range is centred near $1.27, so it does not line up exactly with the $1.31 price quoted elsewhere in the video. Either way, as the host put it, nobody is pricing $20.

What can’t XRP price math tell you?

Price math shows scale, not likelihood. The video flags three limits:

  1. Market cap isn’t money in. To reach $20, XRP’s market cap would need to grow by about $1.18 trillion. Anyone claiming that exactly $1.18 trillion of new money is needed is guessing. Market cap and invested money are not the same thing.
  2. Supply goes up. Ripple releases XRP from escrow, so the circulating number keeps climbing. That changes the math over time. Bullrunners explains the process in how to read Ripple’s monthly escrow release. In a clip the video plays, a Ripple speaker says Ripple is “the largest holder of XRP.” The host’s point is that Ripple would be on the list of winners at $20 too.
  3. Trackers count supply differently. Data sites use slightly different supply figures. The video suggests picking one source and sticking with it.

The video also addresses the XRP fee burn. It says that since 2012, transaction fees have destroyed about 14.4 million XRP out of 100 billion, or about 0.01%. In the host’s words, “It’s not a burn story.”

What did Garlinghouse say about XRP vs RLUSD?

Garlinghouse said XRP is “at the heart of everything Ripple does” and called RLUSD a complement, not a replacement. A Bloomberg interviewer asked him the question many holders have: has institutional demand arrived for RLUSD instead of XRP?

His main points:

  • He said about half of all RLUSD is issued on the XRP Ledger, bringing liquidity, volume and activity that anyone in the XRP ecosystem can benefit from.
  • He described a stablecoin as an “entry point” for treasurers, CFOs and CEOs exploring the technology.
  • On stage at Swell, he said Ripple will “never give up on XRP” and will “never do something we think is bad for the XRP ecosystem.”
  • According to the video, on November 3 he replied to a holder on X that RLUSD competes with other stablecoins, not with XRP, and that he wants those use cases running on the XRPL.

In another clip, a Ripple speaker the video does not identify answers what XRP can do that RLUSD can’t. The speaker describes XRP as a neutral bridge asset between currency pairs. The example given is a payment from Australian dollars to Philippine pesos, which has traditionally gone through the US dollar. For dollar-to-dollar payments, the speaker says, RLUSD is well placed.

The video notes what Garlinghouse did not offer: a price. It also checks his “about half” figure. Ripple puts RLUSD at about $2.6 billion. Cointelegraph, using DeFiLlama data, puts nearly $1 billion of it on the XRP Ledger. That is closer to 4 in 10 than half. For background, see how RLUSD differs from XRP.

Ripple’s revenue, ETF inflows and whales: the current numbers

The video describes Ripple the company as “flying,” but it stresses that company revenue and the coin’s price don’t have to move together.

  • Revenue: Garlinghouse said Ripple exited last year at about a $300 million revenue run rate and expects to exit this year around $900 million. He credited growth in payments, Ripple Prime and Ripple Treasury, and said Ripple Treasury now touches more than a thousand corporates.
  • Price reaction: According to the video, XRP fell 6.6% on October 29, which the video calls the day the revenue target was reported. Ripple announced the target on October 28. October 29 was also the day of the Binance hack.
  • ETF flows: The video says XRP ETFs had taken in $1.81 billion in total, including $4.32 million in the week to October 30 and zero on November 3. Later reports showed a further week with no inflows.
  • Large wallets: According to the video, Santiment counted 2,147 wallets holding 1 million XRP or more, the most this year.

The video sets the ETF total against the roughly $1.18 trillion of market cap growth that $20 would need. All the ETF money so far is $1.81 billion. The host stresses that this is not a formula, but it does show the scale involved.

Garlinghouse framed the wider opportunity in long-term terms. He said his competition is not other chains but getting more of traditional finance to use blockchain-based settlement. He said institutional crypto exposure remains “incredibly small” and that he expects the industry to be more valuable in 10 years. He added that this was not financial advice.

Three XRP numbers to track every month

The video’s practical tool is a simple monthly check. Instead of guessing whether $20 is coming, look at three numbers once a month:

  1. RLUSD on the XRP Ledger. This shows whether Ripple’s stablecoin growth is landing on the ledger XRP holders care about.
  2. XRP ETF inflows. This shows whether institutional money is coming in through regulated funds.
  3. Wallets holding 1 million XRP or more. This shows whether large holders are adding or reducing.

The host’s rule of thumb: if those three climb, the $20 case gets stronger. If they stall, $20 stays a wish. The video does not claim any of these numbers guarantees a price.

What to watch next

The video closes with a historical parallel. In 1901, J.P. Morgan put money into Nikola Tesla’s Wardenclyffe tower on Long Island, where Tesla hoped to send messages and power through the air. The video says Morgan stopped funding it in 1917. Historical records show he declined further funding in the early 1900s, around the time the facility was finished in 1902, and the tower was torn down for scrap in 1917. The technology was real, but who captured the value was another matter. The letter writer is asking the same question about Ripple and XRP: does the value flow to the company or to the coin?

Holders can check the evidence themselves. Watch how much RLUSD sits on the XRP Ledger compared with Ripple’s total RLUSD supply, and whether ETF flows pick up or stay flat. Watch whether the count of million-XRP wallets keeps rising. Treat any price target, including $20, as speculation.

Frequently asked questions

How much would 1,000 XRP be worth at $20?

At $20, 1,000 XRP would be worth $20,000. At the $1.31 price cited in the video it is worth $1,310. At $3.65, the July 2025 price the video calls the all-time high, it would be $3,650.

What market cap would XRP need to reach $20?

According to the video, with about 63.35 billion XRP in circulation, a $20 price works out to roughly $1.27 trillion. That is about 78% of Bitcoin's $1.62 trillion market cap at the time of recording.

Does Ripple's success benefit XRP holders?

Not automatically. Owning XRP does not give you shares, dividends or a cut of Ripple's profits. A Ripple speaker in one of the video's clips says Ripple is the largest holder of XRP.

How much RLUSD is on the XRP Ledger?

Garlinghouse said about half of RLUSD is issued on the XRP Ledger. The video cites Ripple putting total RLUSD at about $2.6 billion, and Cointelegraph, using DeFiLlama data, putting nearly $1 billion of it on the XRP Ledger. That is closer to 4 in 10.

How much have XRP ETFs taken in?

According to the video, XRP ETFs had taken in $1.81 billion in total, with $4.32 million in the week to October 30, 2026 and zero on November 3.

From the video's captions, lightly formatted. Captions can mishear names and numbers, so check figures against the article above.

Something is happening within the XRP community. Quite frankly, I haven't seen this level of anger and frustration for a very, very long time. XRP holders are losing faith. Some are openly accusing Ripple and Brad Golin House of betraying the very community that supported XRP for years, and the accusations are serious that Ripple is using XRP holders as liquidity to finance a multi-billion dollar corporate empire. The brat is more interested in building Ripple the company than delivering value to the XRP holders and that Ripple stable coin ROUSD is taking center stage while XRP is being pushed into the background.

That's how angry it has gotten and one holder put it in writing. Fabriio Scoodoo wrote an open letter to Ripple's CEO Brad Garlinghouse and to David Schwarz. He said XRP deserves $15 to $20. So, let's run the math. XRP is $131 as I make this video.

At $20, XRP would be worth $1.27 trillion. All of Bitcoin is $1.62 trillion. If you hold $1,000 XRP, that's $1,310 today. At $20, it's $20,000. In this video, you get your 1,000 XRP at every price up to $20.

What? $20 would make XRP next to Bitcoin. What Garlinghouse said this week in his own words and three numbers that you can check every month. No hype, just the math. All right, Bullrunners. Ryan Huggin here, aka at Winwith Ryan. Welcome back to the channel. We didn't just buy an asset. We chose to fight the exact same war alongside you.

He means the SEC lawsuit. Holders sat through it right next to Ripple. Here's the frustration. Put fairly, there's a deeper frustration developing within parts of the XRP community. And it's not simply about the price.

Some XRP holders genuinely believe Ripple is using XRP to build an enormously valuable business while leaving the community left behind. And you can understand why people are asking these questions. Ripple is expanding aggressively, acquiring businesses, developing financial infrastructure, and building relationships with major institutions. But here's the question. What does any of that actually do for XRP holders?

Because owning XRP doesn't mean you own Ripple. You don't receive dividends. You don't get a share of the Ripple profits. And when Ripple acquires another business, XRP holders don't automatically benefit financially. Now, that is a legitimate concern.

Ripple has historically sold XRP and its holdings have been an important financial asset for the company. So asking how Ripple finances its expansion and how that expansion benefits XRP is an entirely reasonable question. And look at what Ripple has become since.

All right. Well, let's talk about a little bit about where Ripple is right now because we've got the approval for the National Trust Bank application. We see Robin Hood integrating Ripple Treasury and bringing RLUSD to 29 million customers. BNY added XRP and RLUSD custody yesterday. It feels like a lot's happened in a short amount of time.

Um, you've also made a number of acquisitions and you're a very different company than you were certainly a few years ago and even last year. What is Ripple trying to become from where you sit in 2026 right now?

Well, look, there's no question about it. you know, over the 10 years that we've hosted this conference, it's really profound to see how much the industry has changed, but also how much Ripple has changed. I mean even as you look at some of the other uh people who are speaking with you all today the fact that you have BNY announcements and you have Terry Duffy like it is a dramatic shift from uh crypto being kind of on the outside as you point out many crypto firms are increasingly thinking about how do we build bridges between traditional finance and decentralized finance and that's where Ripple has been really from the beginning and both through our acquisitions as well as through our organic growth we've continued to build on that so we're seeing more and more people able to take advantage and access the crypto economy, whether that's using those rails for more efficient payments, for custody, and even as you described tokenization of different assets that opens up markets to new interests.

Brad, you've spent some $2 billion in the past 18 months on acquisitions. Now you have treasury, prime brokerage, compliance, automation, and payments. Is there a category you're missing? And it just makes me really think is an IPO underway or in the works rather.

You know, look, we have been a very uh happily private company for I guess 12 years now. And so we have not been in a hurry to uh try and get public. You know, that may be a chapter we we cross in the future. But for now, we've been happily private. Uh we've been able to do the acquisitions you've described here.

And it was actually last year we spent about $2.5 billion on acquisitions. Two big ones with a company called Hidden Road and a company called G Treasury. Both about a billion dollars and then some smaller ones as well. Those acquisitions have been phenomenally successful for us. They have we've been able to accelerate the growth substantially in both both of those examples and those have actually helped uh our organic growth accelerate also.

So you can see why he wrote you secured your future while leaving ours in the cold. Here's the thing though. $15 to $20 is in the letter. How he got there isn't. So, let's build the model for him. Say you hold 1,000 XRP at $1.31.

That's $1,310. At the $3.65 all-time high from July of 2025, it's $3,650. At $5, it's $5,000. At $10, it's $10,000. And at $20, it's $20,000.

That's 15x from here. And get this, $20 is the old high times five and a half. A price means nothing on its own. You multiply it by the coins out there. There are about 63.35 billion XRP in circulation per trading view.

At $131, that's about $83 billion. At $20, it's $1.27 trillion. Bitcoin is at 1.62 trillion today. Ethereum is 296 billion. Tether is 178 billion.

So, $20 XRP is 78% of Bitcoin, more than four Ethereums and about seven Tethers. If we count every XRP that exists, almost 100 billion, and $20 is about 2 trillion. So, that's bigger than Bitcoin. And Garlinghouse likes to remind people of where XRP used to rank.

People forget that before the lawsuit, XRP was the second most valuable digital asset after Bitcoin. you know, you get in this fight with the government and people lose some faith. And I think there's a lot of momentum and we want to lean into that momentum, not not just for Ripple and for the XRP ecosystem, but really for the industry overall.

It was number two for a short spell around the start of 2018, but $1.27 trillion is a different planet from where number two sat back then. So, is 15x crazy? The reality is if you bought in the summer of 2024, you were buying XRP at approximately 45 to 55. As it stands today, you've got however many X times your money.

I don't think that's a bad long-term investment. If you'd have left that in the bank, would you have got that money back since since December of 2024? No. There are other things you could have bought where you could have made more money. In early November 2024, XRP was about 50.

By July 2025, it hit $3.65. 65. That's about a 7x in 9 months. $20 from here is about two of those back to back. Not impossible, just not normal. And three things the math can't tell you.

First, market cap isn't money in. Anyone who says that it takes exactly 1.18 trillion new is guessing. Second, supply goes up. Ripple releases XRP from escrow. So, the circulating number continues to climb.

And who holds the most? Look, Ripple has always cared deeply about the XRP ecosystem. Uh we are the largest holder of XRP. So when you ask who wins at $20, Ripple's on that list, too. Third, trackers count supply a little differently.

Pick one and stick with it. Running your own bag through math like this instead of a headline is what we do inside of the Altcoin Pro Accelerator program and our SGS system. Secure, grow, scale. And if you hold XRP and you've never worked out what it has to become for your number to actually happen, well, that's the first link in the description. Click the link, set a call, get it looked at with our team this week.

Here's Bloomberg asking him your question.

But the institutional demand that you've been building for has arrived, but it's arrived for RLUSD. US dollar stable coin and not XRP. How central is XRP to Ripple anymore? Because Ripple is expanding into various other business ventures, as Scarlet highlighted earlier, it seems like XRP doesn't seem to be a big focus.

You know, anyone who doesn't think that XRP is at the heart of everything Ripple does is kind of missing the big picture from my point of view. You know, when we launched RLUSD, it was to complement what we're doing with XRP. About half of all RLUSD is on top is issued on top of the XRP ledger. that brings liquidity, that brings volume, that brings activity on the XRP ledger that anyone who participates in the XRP ecosystem can benefit from. What we found is I think about Earl USD as almost an entry point where people and treasures, CFOs, even CEOs who are interested in these technologies, a stable coin is really an entry point. And for us, we want to solve the customer's problem.

Whe whether that's a stable coin through XRP or even at times through fiat rails, we want to solve the customer problem because the more we do that, the more we have access and ability to introduce XRP to everything we're doing. But people should not lose sight of the fact that Ripple cares more about the XRP ecosystem than anyone. Notice he says about half of RLUSD is on the XRP ledger. We're coming back TO THAT.

WHAT IS IT THAT XRP can do that the stable coin RLUSD cannot? Well, a stable coin is by definition a stable coin of one token of one dollar, let's say. Now, I mean, US dollar is 90 plus% of all stable coins. If you want to be a bridge asset between lots of different things, just being US dollar dominated denominated doesn't actually solve that across different corridors. So, XRP continues to be an asset we use as a bridge asset between different currency pairs. and having one bridge asset versus going into the dollar and out of the dollar.

The historical dynamic if you were sending a wire payment from the Australian dollar to let's say the Philippine peso, you would go through the US dollar to do that. Having a neutral bridge asset that's very very very low cost and very scalable is something we think will continue to be appealing to different corridors, different currency pairs, what have you. Other times you just want to be dollar denominator. You're going dollar to US dollar. then RLUSD is very well poised to take advantage of that and again doing that on top of the XRP ledger brings liquidity and velocity to the XRP activity

and on stage that same week he went further

but you know you do read people saying oh they've given up on XRP they're you know leaning into RUSD we will never give up on XRP you know and the momentum you're seeing around XRP is profound uh RLUSD is one contributor to that uh so we don't we view them is very complimentary and when people were kind of I think saying like we don't get it people I I said then and I'll remind people we will never do something we think is bad for the XRP ecosystem that that makes no sense to me and the good news is because of XRP's efficiency as a layer 1 blockchain in terms of speed scalability uh it it is uniquely positioned to solve some very large many trillions of dollars scaled use cases then on November 3rd a different holder asked him on X. RLUSD isn't competing with XRP. It's competing with other stable coins. Use case matters and I want those use cases running on the XRPL. Notice what he didn't say.

A price. He never does. And the burn. Since 2012, fees have destroyed about 14.4 million XRP out of 100 billion. That's about 0.01%.

It's not a burn story. RLUSD is about $2.6 billion per Ripple. Cointelegraph using DeFi Llama puts nearly 1 billion of it on the XRP ledger. That's closer to 4 in 10 than half. Ripple, the company, is flying.

We exited last year at about a $300 million revenue run rate across all of our products, all of our services. We're going to exit this year around $900 million. That's not just one group contributing that growth. So, across the payments business, it has grown substantially. across the the Ripple prime business, it has grown substantially. And as I said earlier, Ripple Treasury in some ways like I I think the genius of the opportunity with Ripple Treasury is that we touch now over a thousand corporates.

You know, we announced yesterday the work we're doing with Robin Hood, including on Ripple Treasury. So the opportunity is you have that CFO dashboard and [snorts] the ability to expose whether it's Ripple Prime or Ripple's payment solutions within that is a big opportunity for us going forward and that kind of captive audience. On October 29th, the day that target was reported, XRP fell 6.6%. That was also the Binance hack day, but revenue and the coin don't have to move together. XRP ETFs have taken in $1.81 81 billion in total, 4.32 million in the week to October 30th, zero on November 3rd.

Santiment counts 2,147 wallets with 1 million XRP or more, the most this year. To reach $20, XRP's market cap has to grow by about 1.18 trillion. All the ETF money ever is 1.81 billion. That's not a formula. It just shows you the scale.

And here's how big Garlinghouse thinks the prize is

kind of my competition is not the other chains. My competition is how do we get more of traditional finance taking advantage of blockchain based settlement.

Taking advantage of these new technologies reduces friction measured by cost and time. And I I I want to see these other chains do well and be successful. It is a massive market opportunity and I think

different ecosystems will focus on different verticals and that's great and I don't view very few times do I feel like oh Ripple's in direct competition with someone. I feel like more often than not I'm rooting for the whole industry and I I think some of the more difficult periods around crypto have been when we're fighting each other.

Yes. And we really should be fighting for more grow the whole pie, not how big your piece of that pie is. And we'll continue to do that. And I think, look, the XRP ledger has been profoundly successful over a long arc of time. And and I think is well positioned to take advantage of some of those opportunities.

Options traders are pricing about an 8.7% move by November 8th, roughly $116 to $1.38. Nobody's pricing $20. So let's put it together. $20 is 1.27 trillion, 78% of Bitcoin. XRP has done a 7x. This is a 15x.

Ripple is tripling its revenue. And Garlinghouse says XRP is at the heart of it. Here's his 10-year view.

So, I I mean, look, seasonality, it's one of those, is it causal? Is it correlative? Like, you know, sometimes I think it's just like we're just looking for signs. It's astrology. I'm not a big believer.

I'm an Aquarius, but you know, anyway. Me too. that uh I I don't really believe in some of the things that people point to as narratives around crypto and I kind of step back and I look at that big picture. The the percentage of institutions who are have leaned in and have any crypto exposure remains incredibly small. Those institutions that do have some exposure have a very very small exposure. I if you ask me 10 years from now will that continue to be the case in a world where inflation continues to grow, deficit spending continues to grow and again the US is healthier than many others.

It's hard not to believe 10 years from now that this is going to be a pretty profoundly uh more valuable industry in my opinion. That is not financial advice.

You don't have to guess. Track three numbers once a month. how much RLUSD sits on the XRP ledger, XRP ETF inflows, and wallets holding 1 million XRP or more. If those three climb, the $20 case gets stronger. If they stall, $20 stays a wish. Tell me in the comments, do you think XRP ever hits $20?
