Pearl vs Nockchain: What the PRL/NOCK Ratio Shows About AI Mining
Pearl (PRL) and Nockchain (NOCK) pay miners for useful AI and proof work. How the two chains differ, the PRL/NOCK ratio, supply math and the key risks.

Key takeaways
- Pearl (PRL) and Nockchain (NOCK) both use proof of useful work: miners are paid for computation that could have real-world value instead of throwaway puzzles.
- According to the video, most Pearl mining is still synthetic, meaning random matrices rather than paid AI jobs, so its thesis depends on real AI demand arriving.
- Pearl has about 84% of its supply still to be mined, versus about 45% for Nockchain, which means more new coins reaching the market for Pearl.
- Both markets are thin: the video says a $50,000 order can move either price, so getting out can be harder than getting in.
- Market figures in the video date from October 9, 2026 and move quickly, and CoinGecko lists Pearl as PEARL, not PRL, so check current data on the right listing.
Pearl (PRL) and Nockchain (NOCK) are proof-of-work chains that pay miners for computation with real-world uses, such as AI math and verifiable proofs, instead of Bitcoin-style throwaway puzzles. A Bullrunners video, using an October 9, 2026 CoinGecko snapshot, says Pearl was about 8 times larger by market cap. It calls the PRL/NOCK price ratio the chart to watch.
For holders of AI-themed coins, the two chains are a useful case study. They share a goal, connecting crypto mining to the AI compute market, but they take different routes. They also have different supply schedules and trade in very thin markets. Knowing how each one works, and what could break it, matters more than any recent price run.
What is proof of useful work?
Proof of useful work is a mining model where miners still compete for blocks and coin rewards, but the work they do has value outside the blockchain. The video sets this against Bitcoin, whose miners run the SHA-256 puzzle. That puzzle has no shortcut by design. Miners burn electricity guessing numbers until one of them wins a block, and the result is then thrown away. The video says Bitcoin mining uses about as much energy as Argentina.
Meanwhile, AI labs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Meta are competing for the same inputs: GPUs, compute and electricity. The video plays clips to show the pressure. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said each gigawatt of AI capacity costs about $50 billion. Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, in a podcast interview, said energy will be a key constraint and compared a gigawatt training cluster to a meaningful nuclear power plant.
Proof of useful work tries to join those two needs: one industry wastes its math, and the other is short of it. Miners would do AI math, verifiable computing or scientific simulation and still be paid in the chain’s native coin.
How does Pearl (PRL) work?
Pearl is a fork of Bitcoin that replaces Bitcoin’s SHA-256 puzzle with matrix multiplication, the calculation AI models run billions of times. Its mainnet launched on April 27, 2026. The video describes it as a fair launch with no presale and no pre-mine.
According to the video, the rest of the design follows Bitcoin closely:
- a fixed supply of 2.1 billion PRL
- no pre-mine
- new coins that taper off smoothly over time rather than through sudden halvings
The video sums up the pitch as “same chip, same electricity, two paychecks.” A GPU running an AI model can mine Pearl during the same calculation, so the owner earns AI fees plus PRL rewards. The video puts the claimed overhead at 5 to 10%. Pearl Research Labs’ own pitch says about 5%.
Together AI, an AI compute provider, has announced a partnership with Pearl Research Labs. The video says Together AI offers a discounted model endpoint, with the discount paid for by PRL mined during the work. One research paper describes the setup a little differently: Together AI’s GPUs run the AI work separately from mining, and PRL income offsets the price.
The video puts the network size at around 50 to 55 exahash per second. That matches reports from late September 2026. Hash rate on a young chain can change quickly, so it is worth checking a current figure.
The video is clear about the weak spot. It says most Pearl mining today is synthetic. The protocol accepts random matrices, so miners are not yet computing AI jobs for paying customers. A June 2026 research preprint showed a mining pool accepting shares produced from random matrices. In the video’s framing, Pearl’s thesis depends on real AI demand becoming most of its hash rate. If that never happens, the video says, Pearl is “just Bitcoin with extra steps.” The video also says bugs have let miners briefly inflate their reported work, and that the team is patching them.
How does Nockchain (NOCK) work?
Nockchain is a chain built from scratch that pays miners to generate cryptographic proofs that a program ran correctly. It fair launched on May 21, 2025, almost a year before Pearl.
Nockchain uses a deliberately tiny virtual machine with only 12 instructions, designed to make proofs fast and cheap to produce. Programs run off-chain, and only a small proof, called a STARK, is recorded on the base layer. Checking a STARK costs roughly the same whether the job was small or large.
That means Nockchain is not limited to AI. It could price any provable computing, including AI training, scientific simulation, financial calculations and zero-knowledge privacy proofs. The video describes it as a market for verifiable work.
The detail the video highlights most is Nockchain’s AI proof-of-work lane. It lets Nockchain miners work on Pearl-style puzzles while they generate their STARK proofs. The video says Nockchain miners recently produced a large share of Pearl’s blocks. Blockworks put that share at about 55% of Pearl’s blocks from September 14 to 21, 2026. So two chains that look like rivals are already sharing hash rate.
Nockchain’s supply has a hard cap of about 4.29 billion NOCK, with a fair launch, no pre-mine and slowing emissions.
Pearl vs Nockchain compared
The market figures below come from the video’s CoinGecko snapshot dated October 9, 2026.
| Pearl (PRL) | Nockchain (NOCK) | |
|---|---|---|
| Launch | April 27, 2026 | May 21, 2025 |
| Design | Bitcoin fork, AI matrix math | Built from scratch, STARK proofs |
| Max supply | 2.1 billion | About 4.29 billion |
| Circulating share | About 16% | About 55% |
| Supply still to be mined | About 84% | About 45% |
| Market cap | Roughly $446 million | Roughly $55 million |
| 30-day return | Up 215% | Down 23% (up 21% over 7 days) |
| Daily volume | About $4.3 million | About $1.1 million |
These market figures were already more than two weeks old when the video was published on October 25, and prices on small coins move fast. When this article was checked, CoinGecko showed Pearl’s market cap at about $681 million and its daily volume near $8.1 million, so the gap between the two coins has likely widened. If you look Pearl up, note that CoinGecko lists it under the ticker PEARL. The PRL ticker there belongs to a different coin, Perle.
The supply gap matters. With 84% of Pearl’s coins still to be mined, the video describes years of new supply reaching the market, which can act as sell pressure. Nockchain has less of that ahead of it. For a broader look at why supply schedules shape returns, see three checks on holders, unlocks and revenue.
Why the PRL/NOCK ratio matters
The PRL/NOCK ratio measures Pearl’s price in Nockchain terms, and the video calls it the single most important chart in this trade. According to the video, the ratio went from roughly 13 to roughly 56 since late June 2026, when Pearl first appeared on CoinGecko. That would mean Pearl gained about 4.3 times against Nockchain in under four months.
So far, the market has backed Pearl. The video argues that if the ratio starts turning down, money is rotating from Pearl toward Nockchain. It says that is the signal both camps are watching.
Whether the two are even competitors is an open question. The video cites a crypto publication that called both real attempts to link crypto to AI compute. The same publication said both are too young to compare on adoption and that execution will decide the outcome.
An analyst quoted in the video argued that Pearl’s story fits in one sentence (swap Bitcoin’s puzzle for AI math), while Nockchain’s needs paragraphs. The analyst said markets have historically rewarded the simpler asset and pointed to Monero outlasting Zcash. That example has aged badly: Zcash overtook Monero’s market cap in November 2025 and again in May 2026.
A clip of Michael Saylor makes a related point. He says that among cryptocurrencies with a debatable claim to being money, one is dominant, and he names Bitcoin.
The video frames the choice as a fork in the road:
- If Nockchain is trying to be “AI money”, it probably loses to Pearl because Pearl is easier to explain.
- If Nockchain is really a verifiable compute platform, closer to Ethereum than Bitcoin, the two are not competing at all, and Nockchain should be judged on usage and fees.
For how other AI-linked tokens hold up on similar questions, Bullrunners has compared NEAR, TAO, Render, ICP and FET.
What are the risks?
The video lists serious risks and says either coin can still go to zero. The main ones:
- Fake work could stay dominant. If Pearl’s hash rate stays mostly synthetic, the useful-work story never materializes.
- Newer security. Both chains’ mining security is less tested than Bitcoin’s. The video also says Pearl has already had bugs that let miners inflate reported work.
- Dilution. Pearl’s emission schedule is longer, with most of its supply still to come.
- Identity risk. Nockchain could face an identity crisis the market punishes for years.
- Thin liquidity. In the video’s snapshot, Pearl’s daily volume was about 1% of its market cap and Nockchain’s about 2%. The video says a $50,000 order can move either price and that exiting a position can be harder than entering it.
The video also plays clips of Arthur Hayes and Raoul Pal. Hayes linked the AI narrative to government deficits and possible bailouts. Pal said he expects the AI narrative to return in a different form and stay important. Those are views about a theme, not evidence that either coin will succeed.
The host shares a personal opinion on both coins, labeled as not financial advice, and Bullrunners does not repeat it here. To monitor a small coin for warning signs over time, see this four-stage check for every coin you hold.
The one-sentence test
The video closes with a test to run before holding any coin in this niche. Answer three questions out loud:
- Why do you own it?
- What breaks the thesis?
- Where do you exit?
If you cannot answer all three, the video says, you don’t really own the position yet; you are guessing. For Pearl, one thesis-breaker could be hash rate staying synthetic. For Nockchain, it could be a lack of real usage and fees.
What to watch next
Three things will show whether either chain’s story holds up.
First, the PRL/NOCK ratio, which the video treats as the key signal. In its view, a sustained turn down would mean money rotating toward Nockchain.
Second, Pearl’s share of real AI work versus synthetic matrices, and whether partnerships like Together AI’s discounted endpoint grow.
Third, Nockchain’s usage and fees as a proof market, and how much of Pearl’s hash rate keeps coming from Nockchain miners.
Trading volume is worth checking too, since thin markets can make any move sharper. When you check current figures, use Pearl’s CoinGecko listing under the PEARL ticker so you are looking at the right coin.
Frequently asked questions
What is proof of useful work?
Proof of useful work is a mining design where miners are rewarded for computation that has real-world value, such as AI math or verifiable computing. Bitcoin's SHA-256 puzzles, by contrast, are discarded once a block is found. Pearl and Nockchain both use versions of this idea.
What is the difference between Pearl and Nockchain?
Pearl is a Bitcoin fork that swaps Bitcoin's puzzle for matrix multiplication, the math AI models run. Nockchain was built from scratch with a 12-instruction virtual machine and pays miners to produce cryptographic proofs that a program ran correctly. That lets it price many kinds of computing, not just AI.
What is the PRL/NOCK ratio?
The PRL/NOCK ratio shows how much Pearl is worth measured in Nockchain. According to the video, it moved from roughly 13 in late June 2026 to roughly 56, which means Pearl gained about 4.3 times against Nockchain in under four months.
Is Pearl actually mining AI jobs yet?
Mostly not, according to the video. It says the protocol accepts random matrices, so most current mining is synthetic work that qualifies for rewards rather than paid AI jobs. The video also says the team has been patching bugs that let miners briefly inflate reported work.
How liquid are Pearl and Nockchain?
Using an October 9, 2026 CoinGecko snapshot, the video puts Pearl's daily trading volume around $4.3 million and Nockchain's around $1.1 million. It says these markets are thin enough that a $50,000 order can move either price.

Bitcoin miners spend more electricity in a year than entire countries. All of it on math that gets thrown away the second a block is found. Trillions of hashes a second, pure heat dumped straight into the sky. Until April 27th of this year. And that's the day a chain called Pearl launched that pays miners to do the exact math that trains AI models.
We're talking the same chip, same electricity, two paychecks. And while retail was chasing dogecoins, this little corner of the market they call AI money ran 215% in 30 days. But Pearl is only half the story. There's a second chain called Nak chain trading at roughly eight times smaller market cap that already proved its miners can produce Pearl blocks on their own hardware. Now, these two were never supposed to be rivals, and the market has not figured out which one wins.
But here's Jensen Huang, the man who sells every AI chip on earth, on stage at the AI Ascent conference earlier this year, laying out the actual economics of what every AI lab in the world is paying for.
Each gigawatt is about 50 billion dollars. So, if you've ever seen it's the most expensive factory in the world, but it also that one 50 billion dollar factory also generates 300, 400 billion dollars in intelligence. And so, the the production value is incredible, okay? The return on investment is extremely fast.
So, that's the pressure. That's the setup. Pearl runs AI math. Nak chain proves computations run correctly. But both pay miners in crypto for work the real world will actually pay for.
One is up 200%. The other is sitting at an eighth of the size with a quiet mining partnership nobody is talking about. And by the end of this video, you'll know which one actually makes sense for your bag and which one gets you killed. So, if you're feeling bullish, like this video. And if If going to become the first millionaire in your family tree, confirm it right now by subscribing to the channel and commenting 777 down below.
And here's what I'm walking you through today. We're going to cover what AI money actually is in plain English. Why Pearl ran 215% in 30 days. Why Nocchain is the quieter trade with the easiest setup. And the exact risks that could blow both of them up.
And the one sentence test you can run on every coin before you touch it. So, let's jump straight into it.
[music]
Firstly, let me back all the way up. Every crypto cycle has a narrative that nobody prices in until it's too late. We had DeFi summer, NFT mania, Solana meme coins. The pattern is always the same. A tiny niche that sounds like a joke for 6 months, then suddenly it's the only thing anybody's talking about and your window is gone.
AI money is the next one and it's hiding in plain sight. Here's the setup. Bitcoin mining is the most successful proof of work system ever built. But the math it does is useless. Miners run something called SHA-256 and it's a puzzle.
The whole point is that there's no shortcut. You just burn electricity until you guess the right number and win the block. That's the entire industry in a nutshell. Billions of dollars of hardware, enough energy to power the entire country of Argentina. All of it producing numbers that got deleted the second a block is found.
But now you flip the screen. AI labs, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta are in a knife fight over the same resource, GPUs, compute, electricity. They can't get enough and the price of that compute keeps going up every quarter. Here's Mark Zuckerberg on the Dukash Patel podcast laying out what the real bottleneck is going to be for the next decade.
You're going to run into energy constraints, right? Because I just I mean, I don't think anyone's built a gigawatt single training cluster yet. I mean, just to I guess put this in perspective, I think a gigawatt it's like around the size of like a meaningful nuclear power plant only going towards training a model.
So, you've got two industries, both burning electricity, both chasing GPUs. One wasting its math, the other starving for math. And somebody was going to connect those two pipes eventually. And that's what proof of useful work is. Instead of SHA-256, mine is do something that has value in the real world, AI math, verifiable computing, scientific simulation, and still get paid in the chain's native coin.
Pearl was the first chain to do this at scale on a Bitcoin-style fork. Mainnet launched April 27th of this year. There was no presale, no pre-mine, pure fair launch. Knock chain fair launched almost a year earlier, May 21st, 2025, with a different thesis entirely. Instead of just doing AI math, Knock miners generate cryptographic proofs that a program ran correctly.
And we're talking any program. You pay in Knock, you get back a receipt that mathematically proves the work was done right. Two chains both solving the same problem, connecting crypto to the AI compute market. They were both fair launched. Both already have miners earning real coins today.
And both are trading at market caps small enough that the retail investor who finds them in October 2026 can still be early. That's the premise. Now, let me show you the actual numbers. Because Pearl is the leader by a lot. As of this week, using the CoinGecko snapshot from October 9th, Pearl is sitting at roughly $446 a dollars market cap.
Noc Chain is at a 55 million, and that's about 8.1 times smaller. The market has clearly picked a favorite. The 30-day returns tell the same story. Pearl is up 215% in 30 days. Noc Chain down 23% in that same window.
Though it's up 21% in the last 7 days from the making of this video, which tells you something is starting to rotate. But here's what each chain actually is. Pearl is a fork of Bitcoin. Same money design, fixed supply of 2.1 billion, and no pre-mine. Emissions that slow smoothly over time instead of sudden halvings.
The one thing that changes is the puzzle. Instead of SHA-256, miners do matrix multiplication. The exact math that AI models run billions of times. A GPU running an AI model can mine Pearl during the same calculation. The owner earns AI fees plus PRL rewards.
The claimed overhead is only 5 to 10% and they already have a real-world partnership. Together AI, one of the biggest AI compute providers in the game, offers a discounted model endpoint. And the discount is paid for by PRL mined during the work. So it's a working loop. Compute goes in, AI output and crypto come out.
The reporting network size is around 50 to 55 exahash per second. For a chain that's been live for less than 6 months, that is massive. But, and this is the part the Twitter accounts won't tell you, most of the mining right now is still synthetic. The protocol accepts random matrices, so miners aren't actually computing AI jobs for paying customers yet. They're running fake math that qualifies for the reward.
Pearl's whole thesis depends on real AI demand eventually becoming most of that hash rate. And if that doesn't happen, Pearl is just Bitcoin with extra steps. There have also been bugs, things that let miners briefly inflate their reported work. The team's patching them as we speak, but the edges are still being found. Now, Knockchain.
Knockchain is a different animal. It's not a Bitcoin fork. It was built from scratch with a deliberately tiny virtual machine. Only 12 instructions designed to make cryptographic proofs fast and cheap to generate. Programs run off-chain and only a tiny proof called a Stark lands on the base layer.
Checking it costs about the same whether the job was tiny or massive, which is a massive which is a big deal. It means Knockchain isn't limited to AI. It can price any provable computing, AI training, scientific simulation, financial calculations, zero-knowledge privacy proofs. It's a market for verifiable work. And here's the piece nobody is talking about.
Knockchain built an AI proof-of-work lane that lets its miners work on Pearl-style puzzles at the same time they're generating their Stark proofs. Recently, Knock miners produced a huge share of Pearl's blocks. These two chains that look like competitors on paper are already feeding each other hash rate. Supply design is tighter on paper, too. So, hard cap of about 4.29 billion Knock, fair launch, no pre-mine, emissions slowing over time, and already 55% of max supply is circulating compared to only 16% of Pearl.
And that dilution math matters. Pearl has 84% of its supply still to be mined. That's years of sell pressure coming at the market. Knockchain has 45% left, so much less overhead. So, you've got your two chains, two thesis, but which one wins?
A piece from BlockMats, one of the better publication in this space, called both of them real attempts to connect crypto to AI compute, and said both are too young to compare in adoption. Execution will decide. But Hu Li King, a well-known analyst, pushed back even harder. He pointed out that Pearl story fits in one sentence. Swap Bitcoin's puzzle for AI math, and Knockchain needs paragraphs.
And historically, the market has crowned the simpler asset, the way Monero has priced Zcash into irrelevance for over a decade. But, here's Michael Saylor on the Patrick Bet David podcast, laying out why there's only ever one monetary asset in any given category.
If you look at all the cryptos, you know, there might be a dozen that you could debate a property, a debate. Of the ones that you could debate a property, there's one that's dominant, which is Bitcoin.
Mhm.
There's 17,000 securities.
Now, that's the fork in the road. If Knockchain is really trying to be AI money, it probably loses to Pearl eventually, because Pearl is easier to explain. If Knockchain is actually a verifiable compute platform, closer to Ethereum than to Bitcoin, then they aren't actually competitors at all. You judge Knock on usage and fees, and that is a completely different trade. Now, let me show you the scoreboard.
Since late June, the first time Pearl showed up on CoinGecko, the PRL to Knock ratio has gone from roughly 13 to roughly 56. That means that Pearl has gained about 4.3 times against Knockchain in less than 4 months. And the market has had a strong opinion. Pearl wins the narrative for now. But, that ratio is the single most important chart in this trade.
If it starts turning down, if Knock per PRL starts to compress, the money is rotating. And that's the signal both camps are watching. Now, before you touch any of this, you need to understand how thin these markets really are. Pearl's daily volume is around $4.3 million. That's roughly 1% of its market cap trading in a day.
Knockchain is at $1.1 million daily, about 2% of its cap. Now, these are tiny markets. A $50,000 order can move either price. And if you're coming in with real size, you have to use limit orders, split your entries, and accept that getting out will be harder than getting in. But, that's the reality of being early.
The reward for being early is being early. The cost is liquidity. And here's Arthur Hayes on the Rollup podcast last month breaking down what the AI narrative really is in the macro picture.
And the AI thing feeds into the same the same sort of trade, which is if AI is our only way of saying this is how we're going to solve the deficit issue, don't worry about spending, then if these AI companies come under pressure because the unit economics of these large labs don't actually make any [ __ ] sense, then what do they do? They bail it out.
And here's Raoul Pal, the man who called the last three crypto cycles on the Binance token 2049 panel earlier this year on where that narrative actually lands next.
So, I do think the AI narrative will come back, but in a different form. Um I think that narrative will be persistent and important.
Now, that's the second opinion that matters here. One of the most followed macro voices in crypto saying out loud that the AI narrative in this space is persistent, not the meme coin flash of the summer. So, here's where I land, and this is my opinion, not financial advice. I think both of these are probably good trades this cycle. NockChain is the easiest setup, smaller market cap, less money needed to move the price.
Big reset already behind it, lower fully diluted value, and simple access on base using Rabby or MetaMask. And if AI money flows, Nock tends to move as the higher beta play. Pearl is the cleanest narrative, the leader, but it has already run hard, so your timing in your entries matter more than they do on Nock. The risks are not small. Fake work could stay dominant.
Security is newer and less tested than Bitcoin style of mining. Pearl's dilation schedule is longer. Knockchain might have an identity crisis that the market punishes for years. And either of these can still go to zero. And if you look at them at all, think small, high-risk sleeve, not the anchor of your entire portfolio.
Bitcoin stays the anchor. The one-sentence test, the only test that matters before you touch anything in this niche is this: Can you explain out loud why you own it? What breaks the thesis? And where you exit? If you can't answer all three, you don't own it yet.
You're just purely guessing. Now, look. You watched Solana at $3. You watched Avalanche at three. You watched Rune at $0.30.
You watched Pepe when it was a joke tweet. Every cycle, there's a narrative that compounds while you're on the sidelines figuring out whether it's real. And by the time it's obvious, the whales have already distributed into your buyer. I've been there. I've missed those windows.
And the pattern most retail traders isn't greed. It's just about being late. And that's why we built the Altcoin Pro Accelerator, the actual framework for finding these trades before your timeline tells you about them. Research process, position sizing, entry and exit discipline. The stuff that gets you to the trade before the whales distribute.
One of our member, Steven, walked in as a small investor. That's his own words. Not somebody with 100K to swing. Just somebody who finally decided to actually learn. And inside the accelerator, he got positioned in Goat, the first AI narrative meme coin to actually break out in this cycle, and in Moondeng on Solana.
Both of them early. Both of them before mainstream crypto is even using the phrase AI across crypto. One week in, his entire portfolio is nearly doubled. And that's the Pearl trade. That's the Knockchain trade.
That's the next AI money trade. It's not a bigger brain. It's a room where somebody who actually watches this stuff for a living hands you the thesis before the chart prints. Now, results aren't typical, so don't be typical, but book a free strategy call with the team. The link is in the description.
